Are you speaking about racial divisiveness or political divisiveness? Either way I dont think it matters since race drives our politics in this country. Most people neglect to use their intellect when an issue hits home. When people are under attack they group together with like minded individuals. Whites (racist whites in particular) in this country feel outnumbered and their very existence and way of life threatened. Thats why immigration is such a huge issue even though they will swear its the jobs. All one needs to do is read the manifestos of the white mass killers recently and you can see the race issue is on their minds.

The parties are engaging in marketing. Pretty much everything is dictated by marketing. Both sides market using the fear of loss strategy which typically disengages the brain. However, this would not be occurring if racists actions by whites past and present were not facts of historical note.
