'Feb. 25 (UPI) -- A bipartisan group of lawmakers introduced legislation Monday to fully compensate first responders and survivors experiencing illnesses related to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The bill known as the "Never Forget the Heroes: Permanent Authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act" would guarantee that first responders and other survivors would receive their full benefit from the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund and would make funding permanent.'
Legislators introduce bill to fund 9/11 victim compensation program
FIRST, I AM ALL FOR THE COMPENSATION TO 9/11 FIRST RESPONDERS. BRAVO.
But what about ALL the other American first responders who have illnesses and permanent injuries they received from doing their duties to their communities? Maybe they encountered toxic substances on the job. Maybe they received permanent injuries from a terrorist/mass-shooting attack. Why are they ignored? Are they less import? Are they any less brave or honorable?
America always pays attention to the BIG stories and ignores the little ones.
If you are going to get permanently injured in America? Make damn sure it made the 6 o'clock news or virtually no one will give a shit....no matter how brave/honorable the deed.
