An All Time Chiefs and NFL great. He was fun to watch as a commentator on Inside The NFL.

Lamonica dies in April at 81. Dawson now. I remember that big rivalry. I was a small lad when I first watched them in 1970.

There is a photo of him at halftime in a Super Bowl smoking a cigarette and drinking a Fresca.

This is why athletes of yesteryear couldn't compete if you transplanted them to today. The 1960s-70s Dawson probably couldn't even make an NFL team now.

Indeed,he played in an era when the NFL was respectable and was not corrupt as it is now and has been ever sense the early 2000;s.
