Labor Participation Rate Drops To 36 Year Low; Record 92.6 Million Americans Not In Labor Force

Their Unemployment numbers are lies. We're actually experiencing record poverty. And with this President opening the Border floodgates, jobs will become more scarce and wages will drop significantly. So don't believe in the Hopey Changey fairy tales. With this record poverty & record debt, the future is bleak.

You can thank the far left Congress for the first two years under Clinton on how we currently count unemployment.
Definition of Unemployed from 1967-1993:
Unemployed persons comprise all persons who did not work during the survey week, who made specific efforts to find a job within the past 4 weeks, and who were available for work during the survey week (except for temporary illness). Also included as unemployed are those who did not work at all, were available for work, and (a) were waiting to be called back to a job from which they had been laid off; or (b) were waiting to report to a new wage or salary job within 30 days.

Definition of Unemployed from 1994 on:
Unemployed persons. All persons who had no employment during the reference week, were available for work, except for temporary illness, and had made specific efforts to find employment some time during the 4-week period ending with the reference week. Persons who were waiting to be recalled to a job from which they had been laid off need not have been looking for work to be classified as unemployed.

So what do you think is a major difference?

.

Record amount of people not working. It's pretty shocking. Combine that with this President opening the Border floodgates, the future is very bleak for American Workers. The Unemployment numbers don't tell the real story.

Regardless, the number is staggering. Approaching a 100 Million Citizens not working? That along with Millions & Millions more streaming across the Border? Yikes!

Bush obviously had a formula and Obama proceeded to reverse it. My graph proves it.

Um. You might want to look at the OP again. The labor force participation rate has been dropping since 2000. 14 years! Long before anyone even heard of Obama. Bush obviously did not have a formula, blind man. He did nothing to stop the drop. In fact, it began accelerating at the end of his term.

The Republican Congress did not stop it. The Democratic Congress did not stop it. Obama has not stopped it.

We're four pages in, and no one has presented any solutions beyond the usual generalized "foster economic growth" blather that is as non-specific as it gets.

Immigrants are not the problem. Only the dumbest of the dumb blames immigrants.

Probably the biggest problem is education. We are not educating our children for the jobs of tomorrow. We have been educating them for the low tech jobs of yesterday.

Common Core was developed with input from the business community as to what skills our kids are going to need when they enter the workforce. The curriculum was developed with no federal money and no federal input. Completely developed on the state level. The GOP was completely on board with this (46 states enacted Common Core, with endorsements from the likes of Bobby Jindal, Jan Brewer, Jeb Bush, and Mike Huckabee) until Obama also signed on and the federal government provided federal cash to the states to support Common Core.

This resulted in Obama Derangement Syndrome kicking in. Now the GOP is committing national suicide by suddenly reversing course and opposing Common Core. Fucking, fucking, fucking RETARDS. Literally, retards.

Another cause of the dropping labor force participation rate is that we are victims of our own success. Our manufacturing is ever increasing efficiency so that less and less capital and manpower is required to produce the same amount of output.

You hear dummies parroting the line that we aren't making as much stuff as we used to. This is completely wrong. We are making more stuff than ever. It just takes a lot less people to do it. Low skilled jobs are not just being outsourced, they are being obsoleted. Thus the need to train our kids for the jobs of tomorrow, not yesterday's jobs. Yesterday's jobs don't exist any more.

Another big cause is the combined public and private debt. When public and private debt cross the 270% of GDP line, economies begin to suffer a one to two percentage point loss in growth each year. And that loss is geometrically cumulative.

We crossed that 270% of GDP line in the year 2000. Now go and look at the labor force participation chart again.

Coincidence?

Don't be one of those parroting tards that blames immigrants. Immigrants are our lifeblood. Immigrants are actually over-represented in our entrepreneurial businesses.

No one has ever provided evidence that "immigrants steal our jobs". Ever. It's a bigot's bullshit gambit.

The crash of 2007/2008 "stole" a lot of jobs. It's like there is mass amnesia about that fact. Fucking idiots.

It's funny that the Right was bragging about the low unemployment rate under Bush, but never once whined about the plunging labor force participation rate going on all through the past 14 years to make the unemployment rate sound less impressive. Hypocrites.

We had just as many immigrants, if not more, back in 2006 as we do now.

It's a paradox. The biggest problem is a lack of education, and that lack of education is preventing the tards from seeing the real causes of our economic problems.

It's isn't bigotry to oppose Illegal Immigration. It's completely out of control. We created Immigration Laws for a reason. This current President has opened the Border floodgates. And there will be a hefty price to pay for that. Competition for jobs is gonna get very ugly. And wages are going to drop. And then of course we'll have to deal with the Millions & Millions more demanding their Freebies. We need to start enforcing our Immigration Laws. It's absolutely criminal that our Government has chosen to ignore the Law.

But i do agree somewhat, Illegal Immigration isn't the only problem. We've become an Entitlement Nation. More & more are demanding their Freebies. But how long can this current Welfare/Warfare State be sustained? Something's gotta give at some point. I just hope Americans are getting prepared for that day. Because that day is likely coming.

Another solution I frequently advocate is the banning of all tax expenditures. They are costing the federal budget well over a trillion dollars every year.

Banning tax expenditures would provide over a trillion dollars of revenue. Simple fact.

You can pay down the federal debt AND lower tax rates by banning tax expenditures. Both of these would have a tremendous positive impact on the economy. And once the debt was paid off, you could lower tax rates even further.

Next, raise the Social Security and Medicare eligibility ages to 70, and index to 9 percent of the population going forward.

Only 5.4% of the population was over the age of 65 when Social Security was enacted, and when Medicare was enacted, they had grown to 9 percent of the population. Today, the over-65 crowd has swelled to 13 percent. Less and less workers are supporting more and more retirees. This is simply unsustainable.

We are living longer, we should be working longer. Work five years longer, and you are paying into the system five years longer and drawing from the system five years less.

Just by banning tax expenditures and raising the entitlement eligibility age to 70 would create so much budget surplus we would not know what to do with it all.

Now, there are dipshits out there who have deluded themselves into thinking I am a liberal, and so their idiotic preconceived notions about me have already caused them to dismiss my solutions before reaching this part of my post. But these solutions are conservative solutions. I am old school conservative. The tards think I am a liberal because I debunk their lies and point out their hypocrisies. They have confused telling the truth and critical thinking with liberalism. They have destroyed the Republican brand by eating the manufactured bullshit fed to them by liars, hypocrites, and psychopaths who pretend to be conservatives but are really only interested in acquiring and holding earthly power over others.

It is quite humorous to see people who think they are right wingers oppose the elimination of tax expenditures just because they don't like the person advocating this. They are so unfamiliar with the very philosophy they claim to believe in that they don't even recognize the elimination of tax expenditures has long been a conservative cause. They seem to believe a "conservative" is all about hating fags and ragheads and wetbacks.

It's isn't bigotry to oppose Illegal Immigration.

That's true.

But it is bigotry to blame immigrants for things they did not cause. We have had several tards start topics blaming illegal immigrant children for the virus that is going around right now, without a shred of supportive evidence for that assertion.

That's bigotry. Pure bigotry.

Just so with blaming immigrants for a low labor force participation rate without a shred of supportive evidence for that assertion.

Bigots suffer from a desire to believe something even when there is an absence of evidence to support that belief. "Truth" for a bigot is whatever agrees with what they wish to believe.

It is the same phenomenon we see with the clients of psychics and mediums. Confirmation bias.

I am opposed to illegal immigration. However, I believe the chief cause of illegal immigration is that we are not meeting the immigrant labor demand with a proper immigrant labor supply. And so the market is forced to acquire that labor supply illegally. Since you claim to be a libertarian, you surely must understand this principle at work.

Every prosperous society has a large immigrant labor force. Simple fact. The bigots refuse to believe there are some jobs that Americans just won't do. But there are. Thus there is an immigrant labor demand on that level that is not being met by our seriously broken quota system.
