Kill the Dept of Ed because it is unconstitutional, or because it is an abject failure?

When the US was "#1" there were hundreds of thousands of kids who were given no education at all. We just didn't count them.
Well stated. Accurate. Is everything ladt student in other nations tested and are their results based off of every student like us?
 

The linked article takes the former approach, while I personally like the viewpoint that the Department - its very existence - is unconstitutional, as Education is not among the powers enumerated in Article I for Congress.

Or because we can't afford it. Like most of the federal government, it definitely will be reduced in budget and personnel. It may eventually be reduced to zero. It has a short amount of time to prove it is still worth some of our money.
