Kamala's America: Border Czar Harris Has Lost Track of 290,000 Unaccompanied Minors

She wasn't appointed border czar.
That's what the media at the time was saying.
I had no idea the media said she was a border Czar until she became the nominee and I began to see dozens of threads from trumpers lying about how she was the border czar.
Then you weren't paying attention. Were you actually posting on politics back from that lack of information?
I'm not to concerned about your thots and feels about what I would hypothetically think.
Which does nothing to change the obvious, you wouldn't be saying diddly if the border was not a mess.

That's what the media at the time was saying.

Agreed. Not sure where they got that term but you know how the media is.

I don't typically watch media and don't remember reading about that term.

After I saw the term being used dozens of times by trumpers I decided to do research.

That research disclosed the fact that Kamala was never officially appointed "border czar" and that her assignment was not to address the border itself but instead investigate the root causes from countries that immigrants are coming from.

That made sense considering it's ludicrous to expect a VP to fix a problem that has existed for decades and is the responsibility of Congress to legislate.

If the border wasn't a mess I still would not agree that Kamala was a "Border czar" or that as VP she had and significant impact but I sure would give a lot of credit to Congress.

Yes, I do. They were generally gaga over everything about the Quid Pro administration at the time.

I don't consume media regularly, but I remember seeing it. At the time it wasn't controversial.

And it's fair game to ask her what she actually did and whether anything she did was effective at all. If it wasn't, what did she do as a follow-up? That's my point, I don't care if she had a czar title or not, I want to know if she followed through on her assigned responsibilities, and if she was able to implement an alternative solution if the first one didn't work.

It would have been nice to have heard that when she was given responsibility. Even Politico was saying that Joe appointed her the "point person" and he said, "I can think of nobody who is better qualified to do this”. Of course, he was dealing with diminished capacity, so maybe he just made a bad call.

Yes, I do. They were generally gaga over everything about the Quid Pro administration at the time.

And conversely the right wing media went gaga over Trump's adjudicated sexual assault, fraud and felony conviction...except Biden was never adjudicated/impeached/convicted of any quid pro quo so their unwavering affection is certainly more misplaced.

I don't consume media regularly, but I remember seeing it. At the time it wasn't controversial.

Yeah, like I said; I hadn't seen it nor do I remember seeing it.

She did. She solicited donations to create jobs etc in some of the countries where immigrants tend to come from.

It would have been nice to have heard that when she was given responsibility.

I am not surprised the right wing media didn't notify you if what she did.

Even Politico was saying that Joe appointed her the "point person" and he said, "I can think of nobody who is better qualified to do this”. Of course, he was dealing with diminished capacity, so maybe he just made a bad call.
Yep. Nobody better to investigate the root causes.

I would like comment on the effects of her efforts but it's probably impossible to gauge.

Oh well, hopefully Congress can get some legislation done but I am not getting my hopes up.

Irrelevant.
Yeah, like I said; I hadn't seen it nor do I remember seeing it.
Well, it was pretty prominent at the time. Now, of course, they're scrambling to pretend she wasn't responsible for anything at all.
She did. She solicited donations to create jobs etc in some of the countries where immigrants tend to come from.
Okay, she solicited donations. Is that what Quid Pro Joe appointed her to do? I don't recall that being part of the job.

Shouldn't she have spearheaded efforts, proposed legislation, etc. for Congress to take up? At this point, there are at least two border security bills I'm aware of. One was Quid Pro begging for Republicans to bail him out and the other is sitting on a certain democrat's desk, going nowhere.

Irrelevant.

As was your quid pro quo nonsense.

Well, it was pretty prominent at the time. Now, of course, they're scrambling to pretend she wasn't responsible for anything at all.

Odd. I don't really remember posts about border czars before Biden dropped out of the race.

Okay, she solicited donations. Is that what Quid Pro Joe appointed her to do? I don't recall that being part of the job.

Her job was to root out the cause and mitigate. Promoting jobs in these countries gives incentives to locals to stay and work instead of coming here and getting hired by American companies.

You said you don't consume media. From where do you get this if you don't?

I searched border czar on Google and read articles.

Shouldn't she have spearheaded efforts, proposed legislation, etc. for Congress to take up?

No, that wasn't her job. That is congresses job and maybe a little bit Biden's.

At this point, there are at least two border security bills I'm aware of. One was Quid Pro begging for Republicans to bail him out and the other is sitting on a certain democrat's desk, going nowhere.
Yes, adjudicated sexual assaulter fraudster convicted felon Trump had the bipartisan legislation killed and bragged about it.

The other legislation which a republican controlled Congress and adjudicated sexual assaulter fraudster convicted felon Trump didn't pass it.

As was your quid pro quo nonsense.

I'm not talking about posts, I'm talking about the news and what the politicians were saying.

Okay, and what did she do and how effective was it? I keep asking that question and no one seems able to answer it. She's the authority on it, she should be asked that question until she gives a suitable answer.

She spoke for Biden, that makes it her job, if she was really doing it.

TRUMP! wasn't president when the House passed HR 2. For shame, you should have known that.

I'm not talking about posts, I'm talking about the news and what the politicians were saying.

Ahh, yeah. Like I said, don't remember it much about it. I vaguely remember seeing the term but figured it was just another trumper silly middle school nickname and didn't put to much thought into it.

You can't use Google? Why do expect me to do your research for you on this topic?

Literally I typed "what did Harris accomplish at the border" and the below article was the very first one, top of the page.

But her work in Mexico was arguably the most significant. It was there that Mexico and the U.S. signed a memorandum of understanding to “strengthen development cooperation in northern Central America ... to exchange knowledge, experiences, assets, and resources to address the root causes of irregular migration in northern Central America,” according to a description of the agreement by the State Department.

The agreement sent funds from the U.S. Agency for International Development, coupled with those from the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation, to help people in Central America. Since then, the U.S. has stayed on track to meet its commitment of $4 billion to address root causes, but Harris has also been able to solicit significant help from private companies, which have invested $5.2 billion in the region since 2021.

Those investments have funded entrepreneurs, ensured labor rights, strengthened food security and launched “19 projects in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras across sectors, including financial inclusion, healthcare, climate finance, and affordable housing,” according to the White House.

She spoke for Biden, that makes it her job, if she was really doing it.

She was doing it.

TRUMP! wasn't president when the House passed HR 2. For shame, you should have known that.

I didn't mean the HR 2 bill specifically. I meant when Trump was the executive and Republicans controlled both houses of Congress, where was any legislation? It was all EOs which is why we are where we are.

We need Congress to act. Not executive fiat. Not executive orders. Not pretend border czars.

We need legislation.

It's difficult not to point and laugh as the Dims want to lecture others about "kids in cages" as they distribute children across the nation as a part of their child trafficking syndicate.

I don't see a weeping AOC playing to the camera.

Remember 2019? The Trump administration's border policies were causing the Left to lose their minds, and they were fixated on "kids in cages," which was a slur on how the administration housed unaccompanied minors. Rising Democrat star Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez even went down to the border, all dressed in white, and staged a dramatic show, calling them concentration camps.
Her only "action" in 3 years as border czar was to attack border patrol agents as Racists who whipped Haitians. She said it reminded her of slave owners whipping their slaves. She has never apologized to the agents or the border patrol.

We've had the lowest number of border crossings since 2019.

I want her to answer the question. I want to see what she thought was the most effective things she did and why, if she doesn't like the title "border czar", she didn't object when she got it.
I didn't mean the HR 2 bill specifically. I meant when Trump was the executive and Republicans controlled both houses of Congress, where was any legislation? It was all EOs which is why we are where we are.
Yes, because the first thing Quid Pro Joe did was eliminate as many of TRUMP!'s EO's as he could in a petty fit of rage, whether it was a good idea to do so or not.
We need Congress to act. Not executive fiat. Not executive orders. Not pretend border czars.

As we have both shown, both parties have presented immigration legislation in the last two years and in neither case was the opposing party willing to act. I think it would go a lot further if Congress would stop larding up bills with completely extraneous stuff and poison pills.

What was in HR2 that you consider "completely extraneous stuff and poison pills?"

I'm saying Congress very rarely anymore passes single issue bills, and if they did, it would allow congresscritters to clearly state they support or oppose the effort. Instead, bills often get voted on that force the critters to support or oppose things they otherwise would not.

Well, I thought we were discussing immigration legislation. HR2 was a single issue bill - border security, clearly stated. You said the problem was "completely extraneous stuff and poison pills" I was asking what you thought the "extraneous stuff and poison pills" were in HR2.

I was speaking in generalities. Single-issue immigration bills for democrats seem to be like sunlight to a vampire. They can't wait to load up bills.

15th post
No one lost track. Once they were sold, the buyer took possesson. That's what happened.

OK. I respectfully submit the Dems buried HR2 simply becasue they do not want the border closed. They want more House seats and more Dem voters down the road.

Repubs voted against the Dem Senate bill because it sucked. It codified some of the worst aspects of Biden's open border policies.

Exactly right. The Dem bill had, as I recall $118 Billion total, in a slush fund where only $20 Billion went to the US border. Even that would only have allowed Bden- Harrisxto more quickly "process" illegals they intended to dump into US cities.
