Kamala thinks that a $5,000 tax deduction, means that you have $5,000 to Spend on What the Deduction is for

I got the same impression----she has a six year old's concept of just that a TAX DEDUCTION is----that's how I understood it when I was about six
years old

You gotta understand how the left think--- this is the way the /government/ works, because none of it is their money! So when they give you a tax /cut/--- they view it as no different from your having suddenly a pocket full of money in your hand.

But then, many of the people in government aren't much smarter than a six year old. I can tell you quite sincerely that this is why they got hired in government! Not because of their acumen, but only because they were too stupid to get hired in the private sector, too lazy to work in the private sector, and only because they met the government's demographics and desire to hire people willing to comport with all of their mind-numbingly circular rules, regulations and thinking.

It annoys me that she keeps claiming "I GREW UP MIDDLE CLASS" (in a
town of construction workers no less) I grew up middle class (sorta) --- I got thru college (state school, of course) on minimum wage jobs----
and I HAD TO SUBMIT an income tax statement each year---THEREFORE
I know the simple stuff that working class people know----like
WHAT A TAX DEDUCTION ACTUALLY IS. I do not believe that
KAMILA ever filled out an income tax form

No stupid. The corporate tax rate is 22%. The tax saving on the $50,000 deduction is only $11,000, not $50,000. And if you factor in the $1100 tax saving on the $5000 deduction, this is only $9,900 more in tax savings than the $5000 deduction.

I thought you people were all for tax breaks for corporations.
They were until Harris.

Funny how you right wingers talk about tax cuts as you getting to keep more of your money instead of the government.

Harris: My opportunity economy plan includes giving start-ups a $50,000 tax deduction . . . to start their small business. It used to be $5,000 (meaning under the Harris-Biden administration) and nobody can start a small business for $5,000.

So, she thinks that if she provides a $50,000 deduction for small business owners, they'll have $50,000 to start a small business.

Will some Democrat on here post an explanation of why that is not the case, so I don't take you all for morons?

People who don't do their own taxes never heard of brackets. A lot of the 'conservatives' here clearly never heard of them either.

Golly! You are qualified as Harris then to run for president!

I will say it again: people who go in for government jobs do so by and large because:
  1. They are too stupid to cut it in the private market where productivity is key and accountability is the norm.
  2. They are too lazy to meet the productivity and accountability needs of the private sector.
  3. They meet the demographics sought by the government plus are willing/able to conform to the full government think/speak of the hive mentality.
At some point people like Kamala realize then that there is tremendous upwardly mobile opportunity in government if she is just willing to grease the right palms and make the right friends. That said then, we have two diametrically opposite candidates here, a fact entirely missed upon by the media:
  1. Donald Trump, the very embodiment of the totally independent self-sufficient private sector industrialist without any need for government; individual self-actualization, entrepreneur, built upon individual ruggedness.
  2. Kammy Harris, the very embodiment of the wholly dependent public sector bureaucrat which exemplifies need for the total statist control of the individual. In fact, in Kammy's world, the individual does not even exist anymore-- dissolved and absorbed within the greater state mechanized mind. Built upon people of weak character, compromiser, dependent opportunist, group manipulizer to achieve by deceit what one cannot merit by work.
These are the real election issues before us. Harris and Trump could not be two more opposite people.

You really are too stupid to be one person. If the maximum tax deduction is only $5000, that means you cannot claim more than $5000 for start up costs, regardless of how much money you spend on start up. Here are some examples of start up fees.

Simple, small business incorporation$1,094$1,000-$1,500
Simple Prospectus$10,250$7,500-$12000
Simple M&A transaction$11,767$13,000-$50,000
Simple commercial lending transaction$3,450$3,000-8,000

So even if you did a simple incorporation, and a simple merger and acquisition, with a simple loan to fund it, you could be looking at between $17,000 to $60,000, while only being able to write off $5000 of those expenses.

Now do you comprehend what she meant????
I comprehend what you mean.

I await your evidence that this is what she meant.

Her words were that her "opportunity economy" includes "giving them a $50,000 tax deduction to start a small business." She misunderstands, just as irosie91 said. Absolutely there will be thousands of Dems who will vote for her expecting to get a check for 50K to start a weed farm or vape store.

Kamala cannot "give" a tax deduction, she can only ask that the taxpayers be allowed a tax deduction, after they spend their own money.

She said that they were raising the tax deduction for small business startups, which is currently $5000, to $50,000 because "nobody can start a small business for $5000.". Speaking as a member of the legal trades, she couldn not have been clearer in what she said.

What part of what she said made you think she was offering $50,000 to every small business startup???? This is a bad habit with Republicans. They take the words, twist them into something that was never said, and then attack on the basis of what they made up.

I have a small home crafting business that I started iin 2001, and this is what my costs were then:
  • Incorporation - $500 for the incorporation, name search and minute book. As a law clerk, I did my own incorporation, so no legal fees, which would have tripled the cost
  • Partnership Agreement: My partner's husband is a lawyer. He did it for free
  • Logo and Trade Mark: My neighbour owned a marketing firm, and one of her artists created the logo and prepared the submissions for the trade mark application at "family rates" $1000, plus filing fee for Trade Mark $458 (current price)
  • Website: created by a high school kid who incorporated his first company at age 12. $500.
  • Equipment - 2 new computers, sewing machine, 2 sergers: $4500
  • Inventory - fabric and sewing supplies $1500
Even with family and friends pricing and freebies, and doing much of the legal work, and all of the sewing ourselves, we spent well over $5000 and that was for a very small business, we hoped would go bigger - in 2001.

As a “member of the legal trades” you may be able to argue that. As a person who knows many Democrats personally, nearly all of them Texans, which means presumably among the smarter of Democrats, I can tell you that every one of them will believe that what Kamala said means they will be given $50,000 to open a CBD store if she gets elected.
