Just for Clarification.

Is An AI response to a question suitable for an OP link? AI accuracy is equal or better than lots of links that are referenced here, There is just no way to show an AI response without copy/paste.

I would say absolutely not.

AI is crap. I recently asked AI a question about a CB radio in my truck. It said to use wifi to update the software. This model of CB does not have wifi, never has, never will.

I've found it wrong more than right. My dad asked it how to change a part on his car. Gave him VERY wrong directions that had he followed, he would have cooked the computer.

Are you a mod? If not, I'll wait for a mod to respond if you don't mind.

That is because you need to provide it with a suitable database. Which can be done in the form of manuals in PDF format

If AI doesn't know the answer it makes stuff up.

Why, do you have more outright lies to post?

Go ahead and AI "white people are awesome".

Then AI "black people are awesome".

That's why you should not be able to post anything AI as "fact".

It does, indeed. That is why "Which AI you use is important.

Pick an AI that, as a matter of course, will provide you with sources for the claims.

Or at the minimum, ask the AI to provide a list of links to the reference material.

I use Perplexity.ai. I even have a desktop app for it.

It does deep research and always provides the references it uses in its reply.

That gives you information on what it was using and allows you to ask follow up questions and/or question its logic.

All Google's "AI" responses are is an amalgam of information already entered by humans, which may not actually be corrected compiled at all and may actually be contradictory at times. Also, people should really consider that if information is being censored or biased somewhere by humans when I finally entered, then AI will simply echo that bias or inaccuracy right up to and including flat-out LIES. Since most of social media is controlled by the Left, critical thinkers should take note.

If you use OpenAI's ChatGPT, you can create a personal AI bot based upon customized data you provide it.

Say, auto repair.

If you have a specific model of car and all the tech manuals, like A Chiltons', loaded in as a database, the AI is very, very accurate.

Too many people ask open-ended questions or ask questions that promote their own bias and the AI is assuming you are being honest with it.

The GIGO is with the user, not the AI.

But AI will make up shit if it doesn't know in an effort to please the questioner.

No, AI does not count as a valid source.

I'm not talking about information which is as simple as a car part. I'm talking about stuff which is potentially subjective in nature, and can easily have human opinions mixed in with it.

AI will eventually be weaponized against humanity. :dev3:
. . . and I imagine that will happen a lot sooner than most folks are prepared to grapple with TBH.
