Just finished watching the movie Somewhere In Time (1980)........

It features Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour and Christopher Plummer. It's a romantic time travel film that is definitely worth watching if you haven't seen it and it's available on YouTube.

I have it but never watched it. I remember a long time ago my Mother telling me that was her favorite film!

My sister & I LOVE this movie.

I somehow ended up on a YouTube page with John Barry soundtracks and as it was playing in the background I remember thinking that the song playing sounded a lot like Rachmaninoff in Somewhere in Time. It was:

It's quite good for a "chick flick". It's amazing how young and healthy Christopher Reeve looked in the film.

I know my mom had a "thing" for Chuck Heston, and it wouldn't surprise me if she didn't have a little thing for Christopher Reeve as well.

It was A good romantic fantasy, a melodrama that was a bit too much of a tearjerker but I really liked it. It had a great cast headed by Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour, and Christopher Plumber. And the music, "Somewhere in Time" was perfect.

A word of warning, if you don't like romantic movies, skip this one.

The Penny ruined everything 😢☹️
How so?
It's am important part of the story. The significance of the 1979 penny is that it's an anachronism, a modern object that shatters the self-hypnotic spell Richard Collier uses to time-travel, forcefully pulling him back from 1912 to his own time, representing the inescapable pull of the present and his doomed romance. It serves as a physical tether to his reality, and its discovery in his vintage suit pocket breaks his immersion in the past, ending his perfect moment with Elise

The ending is a strong ending although a bittersweet and ambiguous conclusion. It solidifies the film's themes of enduring love, fate, and the heartache of lost time. It leaves viewers debating whether it was a literal reunion or a dying man's fantasy, which makes it memorable. It’s powerful because it doesn't offer a simple "happily ever after" but rather a poignant, almost spiritual, union that validates the protagonist's journey and sacrifice.

I saw all the Star Wars movies and I can't recall one ending, probably because they had a happy ever after ending or a forecast of the next great adventure. Yet I can recall the ending of Somewhere in Time as if saw yesterday although it was released 25 years ago. Great movie endings are memorable but we don't see that many today because they are difficult to create.
