The Democrat 'bench' has been discussed a lot in the last couple of weeks, and so far no name has emerged other than this person or that person being perceived as a 'front runner.'

So just curious here. Who do you want to see run for President against J.D. Vance or whoever the GOP nominee is? Who is your favorite? Your champion?

Will anybody on the left take a stand, give their thoughts, share their honest opinion here?

Poll choices are multiple choice. Please identify your political affiliation or preference and then pick one more more names from the list or offer different name(s) in your post:

I think the D's really need to consider a New Democrat, getting someone like Liz Cheney to cross the aisle to be the nominee.

Ms. Cheney risked a lot to support Biden and Harris, certainly deserves a reward for it.

Okay your vote is noted. Liz Cheney is pretty conservative and she isn't 'woke', but because of the dishonesty and corruption she has demonstrated, she couldn't be nominated to be dog catcher in the GOP these days. But who knows? She might be able to change her political positions enough that she could be a Democrat darling.

Roy Cooper. He is the man.

You can read his bio. Democrat governor with a Republican legislature, he fought the good fight. But my favorite.

Cooper was AG for North Carolina from like 2001 to 2017, during that time some Yahoo from Illinois put North Carolina's copy of the DOI on sale, on Ebay no less. the dude had inherited it, from his yankee ass grandfather or great grandfather, or whatever. Looted it when the Yankee army stormed Raleigh.

Cooper made sure the asshole didn't get squat, and that copy of the DOI sits in a museum in Raleigh.

The NYT admitted yesterday that it’s Cuomo.
They framed the DOJ investigating him as an attack by Trump on the next democrat candidate for POTUS.
Story is behind paywall but you can see enough of the title…
I don't trust the NYT to report ANYTHING with intellectual honesty these days, but yeah, I should have included Cuomo on the list. But he, like Newsom, may be so politically damaged he isn't viable.

Hmm. Interesting. He's not on anybody's radar at the national level though is he?

Never trust the NYT for truth.
But they have to be respected as the driver and template of all democrat info and propaganda — because they are.

No, he has been in the mix. Was mentioned in 2024 as a primary opponent to Biden. Was on the short list for VP when Harris was given the nomination. Should take Tillis's seat in 2026 in the Senate, flipping it.

The scuttlebutt is that a number of prominent Republicans are wanting Tillis to drop out so they can run a true MAGA candidate, which Tillis mostly has not been.

But you could be right that if Cooper is sufficiently popular, he could beat Tillis who at best is a pretty mediocre candidate.

Ultimately it will come down to whether the GOP can get their sh*t together and get tax reform and other critical legislation passed and how popular that turns out to be with the electorate.

It isn't helping that some of the Trump and/or GOP supporters are ready to condemn both if they don't deliver every single thing those supporters are demanding. And because Republicans do not and have never marched in lockstep on these things, there will of necessity be some compromise and nobody will get everything they want.

After the most recent liberal love fest with that illegal alien gang banger, my money is on Kieth Ellison, he checks off that box and a few more.
