No legal reason given for this so you have to figure the judge simply took a bribe. Why can't trump enforce the law.? BTW - Is chemistry professor one of those jobs americans won't do?

Syed Jamal, Kansas father of 3 arrested by ICE, granted stay as he was sent to Texas

feb 8 2018 Immigration officials were escorting Lawrence scientist Syed Ahmed Jamal to a detention center in El Paso, Texas, presumably to be deported, when his attorneys early Thursday learned his case would be reviewed.

An immigration judge overnight had granted a “temporary brief stay of removal” for Jamal, whose story of being arrested while taking his daughter to school grabbed global attention.

The unexpected news will delay Jamal’s deportation at least for the moment. Judge Glen R. Baker gave the Department of Homeland Security until Feb. 15 to respond to attorney Rekha Sharma-Crawford’s emergency motion to stay the deportation and re-open immigration proceedings that led to the Jan. 24 arrest of Jamal, a 55-year-old chemistry instructor from Bangladesh.

Anybody at all is useful to RWNJs, if they can score points off their misfortune.

Judges nowadays think they can order anything. They must be hell for restaurants.

It's a temporary stay. He will be deported. One man's chemistry professor is another terrorist's bomb maker.

Unfortunately, our country today is ruled by the dictatorship of the judiciary. ....

Today? It's been going on for 200 years . Unelected judges have GRANTED themselves final say on every issue.!

I bet he's not deported. We'll get that crap about "law-abiding illegals" even though he was ordered to leave years ago and simply refused.

ICE arrest of Kansas professor highlights complicated paths to citizenship

In a statement, ICE said that he had overstayed a temporary visa in the past and disobeyed a judge's order to leave the country.

The agency added that "Jamal came to ICE’s attention in September 2012. Based on an active ICE arrest warrant, he was transferred to ICE custody Sept. 11, 2012, from the Johnson County (Kansas) Jail."

Wrong. We do indeed have a dictatorship of the judiciary. The president and congress answer to the voters. Who does the Supreme Court answer to? THINK
