ā€˜A federal judge on Monday ruled Planned Parenthood clinics nationwide must continue to be reimbursed for Medicaid funding as the nation’s largest abortion provider fights President Donald Trump’s administration over efforts to defund the organization in his signature tax legislation.

The new order replaces a previous edict handed down by U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani in Boston last week. Talwani initially granted a preliminary injunction specifically blocking the government from cutting Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood members that didn’t provide abortion care or didn’t meet a threshold of at least $800,000 in Medicaid reimbursements in a given year.

ā€œPatients are likely to suffer adverse health consequences where care is disrupted or unavailable,ā€ Talwani wrote in her Monday order. ā€œIn particular, restricting Members’ ability to provide healthcare services threatens an increase in unintended pregnancies and attendant complications because of reduced access to effective contraceptives, and an increase in undiagnosed and untreated STIs.ā€

A provision in Trump’s tax bill instructed the federal government to end Medicaid payments for one year to abortion providers that received more than $800,000 from Medicaid in 2023, even to those like Planned Parenthood that also offer medical services like contraception, pregnancy tests and STD testing."’

The harmful stupidity of Republicans – an increase in unintended pregnancies results in an increase in abortions.

Ok, so if my tax dollars are forced to fund abortions, then your tax dollars should be used to fund nationwide reciprocity efforts

Uh, it is a law enacted by Congress.

This judge thinks they are a potentate but will soon find out differently.

Imagine, the court is ordering money spent not appropriated by Congress; nothing says "democracy" more than that... Not.

Another judge with illusions of presidential grandeur assuming the authority that is given only to Congress and the President.

Sooner or later SCOTUS is going to have to deal with this. Not sure if that will first require legislation by Congress or Presidential EO or what, but this kind of unconstitutional lawfare needs to end as quickly as possible.

Only the Congress has authority to say what monies will be allocated and the President, via government agencies, spends that money.

It was the U.S. Congress via the BBB, signed into law by President Trump, who ended all Planned Parenthood funding for one year. No court in the land, including SCOTUS, has constitutional or other legal authority to overturn that legislation.

No power at all to rule they can spend or can’t spend
Time for frog march lock ups.

Block is a false word in the title because it’s moving forward and another black robe feeler has dictated what she wishes the law was. Feelings have ruined this nation

Trump says he will become a judge so he can actually run the country.

AFAIC, any dimocrap scum female., or any female impregnated by a dimocrap male, should be given a Free Abortion and $10 from Crime Stop.

Be careful what you wish for................................

Judge blocks Trump from defunding sanctuary cities. Judge blocks Trump from defunding Planned parenthood. Basically, liberal judges are preventing Trump from defunding any of their wasteful liberal bullshit. In the end, if we want to cut spending, we need to get rid of all liberal judges

These judges should be investigated.

They are obviously compromised. Bet the judge hires illegals.
