I see most people are so conditioned to just accept the fact the nanny state has to be involved that nobody even questions if that is or even should be the purpose of a limited fed govt.

Local disasters need local solutions/response/assistance.
These people chose to live & build in a known area where hurricanes are a fairly common occurence.

Disband FEMA & the other unConstitutional govt agencies.
The govt has a few legit duties but bestowing benevolence isn't one of them.
Getting rid of unlawful expansions of fed power would go a long way to fixing the deficit that nobody acknowledges but is crushing us while restoring power to the people & states where it belongs
