But he doesn't. While giving a speech on border security and enforcement today, he made the following remark:

"For example, since August of last year, Customs and Border Patrol have seized more than 20,000 pounds of deadly fentanyl. That’s enough to kill — kill as many as 1,000 people in this country. Twenty thousand pounds of fentanyl. It’s a killer. It’s a flat killer."

So how many people would 20,000 pounds of fentanyl really kill? According to the DEA, one kilogram of fentanyl has the potential to kill 500,000 people.

20,000 pound is 9071.8474 kilograms. 9071.8474 times 500,000 would be 4,535,923,700 people.

In other words, 20,000 pounds of fentanyl could possibly kill 4,535,923,700 people, not "1,000."
