He's right, China tends to have border conflicts with all its neighbors. Especially blatant is how they occupied a part of India.

The US can probably beat china in a conventional war with the help of our allies

How many amphibious assault capable ships does China have?

How many of those ships would survive the first few minutes of actual combat?

Their brand spanking new amphibious assault ships carry 900 Chinese equivalents of Marines. My last ship, since decommissioned, was built in the late 70s and carried 1300 Marines. They will not have 4 of these ship's operational for a few more years as amphibious warfare is as foreign to them as fixed wing carrier flight operations.

On the other hand, we have 7 LHDs, and 2 LHAs with another under construction. These ships are capable of carrying the Marines F-35B fighters.

People also underestimate Japan....they are a far more homogenous people than are the Chinese.
They have more military capability than the world actually knows about IMO. Their newest air craft carrier is a multip purpose vessel that moves very quickly for such a large ship and has missile and submarine hunting capabilities as well. The Japanese are the World's very best ship builders.

I think there are two unknowns relating to the coming war with china

The first is chinese anti ship ballistic missiles along with US/Japanese missile defense

The other unknown is which side is ahead in communications

We depend on satellites so much

If china can knock out our communications the military will be blind
