We have covered this many times. Hillary lost in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania in the primaries. Then lost Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania in the general. All states she should have easily won.
The problem with Hillary is that, in addition to misogyny, she's just not a likable person. I think you are mistaking a personality issue for an ideological one. Her Husband won easily twice, pushing the same policies. But while Bill was always kind of a charming scamp, Hillary just came off as shrill and unlikeable.
(I could nitpick about all the tactical mistakes she made, such as trying to run a 50 state campaign, and focusing almost exclusively on what a Troll Trump was, but that's off topic.)
I will tell you what, as much as I hate Trump with a passion that blots out the suns, if given a choice between Commie Bernie and Trump in 2016, I probably would have voted for Trump.
Harris came in last during the 2020 primaries.
Actually, she never made it to the primaries because she wasn't garnering interest from the donor class.
Biden, on the other hand, beat Commie Bernie in nearly every contest, and the few Commie Bernie did win, he still had lower margins than he did in 2016.
But some of you think his snake oil is a good idea.
You blame this on those who wouldn't hold their nose and pull the lever. I blame a party that refuses to listen.
If you sat out 2016 or 2020 because Hillary and Harris weren't Commie enough for you, and let Trump win, that's on you.
No, Democrats do not need to get back to their Republican roots.
They need to stop scaring the straights.
Most Americans don't believe in socialism. they don't want trannies in the bathrooms, they don't want DEI, they don't want to defund the police.
Democrats let Republicans define the issues, that's why they lost.
Now, the truth of American politics is that when times are good, we can navel gaze at the social issues like immigration, gay rights, and abortion. This is when Republicans do well.
When things aren't good, the Republican message of "You Peasants should be happy with what the rich deign to give you" doesn't play so well.
Which is why we are stuck in this eight-year cycle, which, for the moment, seems to be speeding up to every four years.
