U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said Friday morning that U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that Israel completed the first phase of the withdrawal and that Hamas' 72-hour window to release the hostages had begun.

The Israeli government approved and signed the deal overnight, local time, kicking off a 24-hour countdown clock during which time troops had to withdraw to a pre-determined position.

"Following the political echelon’s instructions and due to the situational assessment, the IDF has begun operational preparations ahead of the implementation of the agreement. As part of this process, preparations and a combat protocol are underway to transition to adjusted deployment lines soon. The IDF continues to be deployed in the area and prepared for any operational development," the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) wrote on X.

If this works, it will be a great victory, not for Zionism or Islam, but for peace, and humanity.

I hope the rebuilding starts immediately. Gazans need jobs and there is much work to be done.

LOL....I was entertained by the back-handed "complements" the vile dems gave Trump for his efforts....Through clenched teeth that is. :laughing0301:

They can't stand it when a good thing happens with Trump at the helm.

Hamas isn't going to honor the cease fire ... color me purple if they release all the hostages ...

There won't be peace until Hamas is dead ... Hamas can't govern, they will not bring the October 7th criminals to justice ... they murder infants and raped women as weapons of war ... we cannot tolerate this ...

Iran has been effectively removed form the war. Hamas is surrounded and Israel is closing the noose. They have no choice now. Their leaders what left will be hinted down and killed after the release of the hostages.

But Israel’s coup-de-grace was its bombing raid against Hamas targets in Qatar’s capital, Doha. Scorned by Netanyahu’s foes — both inside and outside the country — as a botched operation and debacle because it failed to kill its intended targets, it nevertheless proved to be the deciding factor in securing the deal that’s been achieved.

That’s because it served notice on Qatar that Israel could hit it with impunity in its capital city, and that therefore the game was up. Qatar could no longer continue to play both sides, pretending to be the honest interlocutor between Israel and Hamas when it was sheltering and funding the terrorist group’s leaders and was shoring up its rejectionist strategy. So the raid persuaded Qatar to put pressure on Hamas to surrender its most devastating bargaining counter — the Israeli hostages.

From this we can all see what some of us have long argued — that this could have happened two years ago if America’s Biden administration had put pressure on Qatar instead of turning the screws on Israel as it so unspeakably did.

As it is, the price Israel is having to pay for the hostages’ return is appallingly high — the release of 250 Palestinian Arab terrorists serving life sentences for the murder of Israelis, plus another 1,700 Gazans imprisoned since the October 7 attacks. The fear that these men are being released in order to perpetrate more such atrocities against Israelis is very real.

Peace is the goal and I pray every day that it will be achieved. Israel will always have to be on high alert as long as Hamas and other groups like it exist as their primary goal is the killing or driving out all Jews and the destruction of Israel. I saw nothing re the peace agreement that they consent to the existence of Israel. But at least for now there is hope for an end to the killing.

Yup.

How many times did they call for a cease-fire in the last two years. Calls that started only after Hamas completed its Oct 7 attack.

Now Trump has given them what Team Autopen could not do in a year and a half.

This won't last.

Neither side really desires an end.

The Zionist side wants to ethnically cleanse that area and make it part of their nation.

The terrorist side wants to destroy Israel and kill ever Jewish person in the Middle East.

Both sides are mixing their religion with politics, which is at the heart of the problem. Since neither religion will change, the conflict will go on till one side either converts, or is eliminated.

Its was the attacks on Iran that made the difference. Iran has always been the driving force.

Simple minded racist nonsense. The Palestinians will never stop attacking Israel, but the reason we have this war is that Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza in 2005 in favor of the Palestinian Authority and closed major settlements in Judea and Samaria in an effort to get peace negotiations started again after the second intifada. The Palestinians have never honored any effort to make peace with Israel and the Muslims have never made attempted to make peace with Jews, except for Sadat's visit to Israel in 1977, in 1400 years.
