Israel promotes plans for 2,372 settler homes in the West Bank
JERUSALEM - Israel has promoted building plans for 2,372 homes in eight Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank in the past month, on land the Palestinians want for a future state, an anti-settlement watchdog has said.

Deliberate and obvious attempt to stop the peace talks.
All U.S. aid to this rogue state should be stopped immediately.

Who the **** has the right to tell Israel where it can and cannot build badly needed homes on its own land. Evictees from the Gaza Disengagement are still living in temporary accommodation all these years after eviction from Gaza and it is about time they had homes of their own, together with all the families living in overcrowded two bedroom apartments.

Israel can promote 10,000 new homes in the West Bank if she feels like it! It's her land! There will be no future state of Palestine. They have never missed the opportunity to miss the opportunity and now the time has long past for such a thing. There will be no sovereign state of Palestine. (repeated for emphasis ) - Jeri

How so when the Palestinian authority signed a treaty saying they could do this in 1993

Division of the West Bank into Areas, in effect fragmenting it into numerous enclaves and banning the Palestinians from some 60% of the West Bank. Redeployment of Israeli troops from Area A and from other areas through "Further Redeployments". Election of the Palestinian Legislative Council (Palestinian parlement, PLC), replacing the PA upon its inauguration. Deployment of Palestinian Police replacing Israeli military forces in Area A. Safe passage between West Bank and Gaza. Most importantly, start of negotiations on a final settlement of remaining issues, to be concluded before 4 May 1999.

Kerry, Abbas Knew of Building Plans in Advance

In a press conference in Brazil, US Secretary of State says Netanyahu had been "completely up front" about building from the start.

US Secretary of State John Kerry revealed Tuesday that he and PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas were fully aware that the Israeli government intended to continue building in parts of Judea and Samaria which "will not affect the peace map" when the decision was made to restart talks.

As such, despite the "outcry" by the Palestinian Authority, Abbas is still committed to talks with Israel over the next nine months, he said.

Kerry declared (Israeli) Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was completely up front with me and with president Abbas that he would be announcing some additional building in places that will not affect the peace map, that will not have any impact on the capacity to have a peace agreement," he continued.

Kerry also stressed the "urgency to get into the discussion of borders and security".

In Colombia on Monday, the US chief diplomat urged the Palestinian Authority "not to react adversely" to the Israeli announcement and stressed the need to return to the negotiating table.

With a fresh peace dialogue in its early stages after a three-year hiatus, the approval of almost 1,200 housing units in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria has triggered angry condemnations from the PA.

However, as noted in a previous Arutz Sheva report, much of the allegedly "new" construction projects were actually commissioned back in 2012.

That fact, coupled with the fact that the PA was apparently aware of the upcoming announcements in advance - and had nevertheless agreed to resume negotiations - suggests a choreographed response to events which really have little if no impact on talks.

If it is Israeli land, why are the Christians and Muslims who live there not given equal rights to citizenship. Sounds like Apartheid to me.

It's a Jewish State. I think the Israelis have been quite generous. Don't you?

Look at the size of the West from which Christianity sends missionaries. How much territory is that? Look at the Muslim lands in the Middle East. They own 99.4% of the Middle East.

Israel is .06% of the Middle East.

Whose being greedy? Do the Jews not have a right to their own Jewish State? Their homeland of Israel which has a history dating back over 4,000 years? Of course she does. Let's be fair.

It isn't part of Israel - it's occupied land and building is illegal in international law.

Nothing like the same story that's over 3 thousand years old still being repeated....

Hear that folks? 0.06% of the Middle East. Half a percent.

Too bad you don't understand that 'Apartheid' is not relevant to your question. I believe the answer is that Israel did not choose to formally annex the WB back in '67 - so non-Israelis can't really be given citizenship en masse.

Of course I'm not certain what you think you mean by 'given equal rights to citizenship'. IFF you are referring to the 'fast-tracking' of Jewish individuals for Israeli citizenship - then it would behoove you to understand that many other nations do something similar and Israel is NOT unique in that aspect.

First you say that it is "Her Land" and now you say it is not Israel. Make up your mind.

Israel has been building there for decades. The U.S is not going to stop giving grants to Israel, so stop whining about it already

Read the Oslo Accords and see that it is not occupied land at all the Palestinians signed it over to Israeli control. And building is not illegal if you actually own the land is it.

Israel can own the land and still not have sovereign control of it, just as you can own land in say France but it does not make the land American.

A big mistake Israel made since 1948 was to allow the Palestinian squatters to remain on stolen land.

A big mistake Israel made since 1948 was to allow the Palestinian squatters to remain on stolen land.

The biggest mistake was made by Moshe Dayan after the 6 day war when he could have expelled every 'Palestinian' from Israel and Gaza but he chose to keep most of them instead. Even the Palestinians were surprised.

One thing is for sure, had the Arabs won the war, they would not have shown an ounce of mercy and they would have expelled every last Jew from the Land

Says you. Meanwhile, you're living in a huge Muslim country with millions of other Muslims, so why does this affect you so much? Did you convert to Islam because you hated Jews and Israel?
