I only hate those who merit it.
But like I said, we should leave you guys alone in a room with these guys who lost their houses and jobs because of you. Give them baseball bats and a pre-emptive pardon. If you can talk your way out of there, God Bless.
Lots of good people lost their homes and savings because Bill Clinton thought it was a good idea to force lending and many greedy assholes took advantage of that. They had nothing to lose, they were welfare ***** before they got the free credit - they had no risk in the game. They were just allowed to live in the lap of luxury for a couple years... Meanwhile many of those who actually had investments in the market lost everything..
Our whole society has to suffer because progressives believed credit was a right not a privilege..
I agree the CRA was a horrible, horrible law.
But saying, "The CRA made me act like a crook" is like saying, "Her trampy dress made me rape her."
It wasn't just that the CRA made banks loan to people who shouldn't have gotten loans, it was that the banks created products geared to those people knowing the government would cover their loses. In short, as much as Toro whines about "socialism", the fact is, government socialized the risk.
There's plenty of blame to go around. The government making bad laws and not enforcing the good ones. The Wall Street Crooks saying, "How can I make a huge profit, even if it destroys the economy in the long run?" The home builders who stopped building affordable bungalos and built "McMansions" they marketed to middle class folks who couldn't afford them, on the promise they could "flip" them at a profit in a few years.
