A commission worked, an EU parliament doesn't. Laws made to suit some countries were shit in others. To try and make every member state the same and effectively wipe cultures out, dreadful. The rich members pay for the shit members. The dregs from the shit members just flocked to the better countries, free movement of the dregs.

Only US-Americans think exclusively in structures of economy. But economics is not an end in itself. The EU is first of all a peace project. The most successful peace project on this planet at all.
