Is his campaign hopeless or is there still a chance?

If Rubio quits, does Cruz get his supporters? If so, what does that mean for the rest of the GOP primary campaign?

Yes. What he is hoping for is for he and Cruz to somehow prevent Trump from gaining the required delegates by syphoning off just enough to prevent Trump from reaching the threshold. He then hopes to throw it open on the floor of the Republican National Convention and hopes that being the Establishment's fair-haired boy, they will throw the delegates to him and allow his win that way.
