Is it time to bring back mental asylums?

Watching actual democrats go stark raving crazy, about Trump of all things, it seems logical to treat their mental illness known as TDS.
Take Charlie Kirks killer, would he be better off in an asylum, than be tied up and shot by a firing squad. Treatment seems far better to me. What do you think? Watch the video to see who I am talking about. They are real humans.

Yes, not necessarily for TDS victims but we have to get the nut cases off of the streets. In my city, we've had 3 bicyclists stabbed by homeless people in ONE WEEK! One died. Enough is enough get them off of the streets. We know how to make mental institutions better than they were in the 60s.

Sidewalks are no place for the mentally ill to get treatment.

In the past, court rulings against involuntary committments have caused the influx of homeless mentally ill.

I would hope that with more reasonable judges now being appointed, and lessons learned from putting those ideas of freedom for the mentally ill into practice, those rulings will be overturned.

Thats not how it would work. Mental health treatment is very advanced and effective. I have spent 25 years working in 4 mental units.
Some people need life long commitments. That doesn't mean they live in a an institution. Many cases they can be treated out patient but must be mandated to accept it. This ends the homeless problem overnight.

Some are so disordered they need an institution. We dont wear uniforms or use straight jackets. Treatment is very empathetic and social needs are respected.
We can take the violent ones off the street and save lives

We need mental institutions but there are too many crazy people in society that they wouldn't be able to build enough of them.

I can't help but wonder how those people handle themselves while at their jobs because at the end of the day when they make these clips of themselves having a meltdown, they are not doing themselves any favors.
