Is It Respectful to Call A Politician By Their Last Name?

braalian told me this today but I honestly haven't heard it anywhere. Somehow calling Kamala Harris by her first name doesn't sound as disrespectful as Kamala calling Trump Hitler, a Nazi, fascist, and whatever else her and her followers call him.

I'm just happy any time I see people using real names, instead of the childish Diaper Don, Obummer, Kamalalala, Sleepy Joe, etc.

Only the women candidates are called by their first name instead of their last name, and yes...it is disrespectful towards women, on the whole.

I don't think this is true.

It seems to me that, as relates to the national stage, this is a practice that stems from the candidates, and their supporters, themselves. Hillary Clinton embraced her first name as moniker to distinguish herself from her husband, making the case that she was her own person and not simply an extension of her husband. Kamala Harris seems to have done so as a way of turning the tables against the morons who have tried purposely mispronounce her name. By putting her first name out there, front and center, she's normalized the correct pronunciation of her name. Even Donald has stopped mispronouncing her name.

Going back to 2006, Kinky Friedman branded his race for Governor of Texas around "Kinky."

That with Hillary was for separation from Bill....I can see that...

But Harris, no reason to call her Kamala....

Kamala Harris disagrees with you...

People who have long known Harris say she sees using her first name as a way to be informal with voters and constituents — to send a message that she’s working for them, that they should hold her accountable.

And Harris knows the weight her name carries for women, for communities of color — the impact it has for them to see “Kamala” featured prominently in her campaigns.

No one said he wasn't convicted.

Wrong, go back and read post #8... wait... never mind, let me help you... save you the trouble...

Except, of course, he isn’t yet a convicted felon.

What part of that did your bias prevent you from understanding?

The specious charge, biased proceedings, the set up - of the first order - was pointed out, and the opportunity to produce a serious allegation offered.

Someone thought the charges were serious enough, all 34 of them. The jury said he was guilty.

What part of that did your bias keep you from understanding?

I have no bias, I don't like Harris, I don't like Trump. Neither one will get my vote. No matter which one wins, the country will all the worse for it.

??

So by extension of your logic "litterally everyone knows" that Trump can murder with impunity in broad day light...because he will get cleared of it on appeal?

You obviously have no fucking brain.

Can you explain how your retarded ass made that fucking leap?

Most people call her Kamala because its a unique name and well, its here name. There's nothing disrespectful about it. Same reason most call the second Bush "W". It's unique.

You are brain dead.

Yeah, that is well known.

I'll make it real simple for you fool:

Most convictions are NOT overturned on appeal, so no one that has any clue would ever say that everything gets overturned on appeal.

Trump was convicted by jury on all counts (with a number of other trials to still conclude) and this idea that it would be definetly over turned is nothing but your wishful, based on nothing fantasy.

Definitely overturned.

They jacked around with the laws.

It is not even in dispute outside of your echo chamber.
