Is homeschooling a good solution?

Public schools are a good idea and this is why they should have a national standard.

But what if a liberal parent is stuck in area with a school that uses corporal punishment?

You okay with forcing the parents to do something against their core values.

If conservative cake makers cannot be not forced to make cakes for gay weddings then a liberal parent should not be forced to have their child attend a red state public school that uses corporal punishment!

You're mixing up issues but no school should be allowed to hit a child.

If I had a child in a redneck, red state, RWNJ school district, I would make a lot of noise, write letters, make it known that you do not agree to have anyone hit my kid.

Then, if one of the assholes does, you've got a lot of what you need to fight back.

Personally, I think if the parent gives permission, at the beginning of the year, they should be able to swat them with a paddle. My PE coach in Jr. High and High School had a whistle on a leather bootlace tied in a knot. If you screwed around in his class, or in the halls and he was around, the procedure was simple, he'd just holler MARKLE...BEND OVER! That was followed by the swing of that leather lanyard and SMACK. Oh man, that really stung. Whatever you did to deserve, you just didn't ever do again. You sure as heck didn't talk back or assault the teacher.

How are the public schools working out today?

Most people do not have the capability to home school because their own education is lacking or it is not feasible because of work schedules, etc.

If you can do it, great! If not, don't try to use it as a dodge for mandatory attendance laws or you will just be raising another idiot dependent on social services.

And yet somehow homeschooled kids kick ass on virtually every measure. For the record I homeschooled my older son. All the homeschooled kids I ever met, even where their parents were hardly intellects, were polite and could interact well with adults.

You never did learn to think for yourself.

They learn by being instructed on the difference between Right and Wrong. Once they are of age they choose Right or Wrong.

I don't scream at kids.... I made sure to move into a neighborhood with few to no kids to begin with..... because I threaten with weapons instead of yelling.

Home schooled kids will not be interacting with other kids on the weekends and the three months of Summer? School is only in session 176 days out of the year...that leaves 189 days that a child is not being programmed...how and the **** do these children survive? (insert eye roll here)

It is more of a struggle with social events, but a local church helps, along with athletics in the community..But my first child lived many miles from town, so he was more isolated than others are..

Homesvhool is a legit option for a parent who stays home who is Willi g to ensure at least 7 hours of direct instruction per day 5 days per week. If I went back and homeschooled, my kids would be well aware of the countless faults of america.
