Should FEMA be eliminated along with the DOE and just provide all emergency resource funding and education funding DIRECTLY to the states? Year after year all we see out of these agencies is failure. Should FEMA and the DOE be preserved, dissolved or reduced?
I say begin with a reduction and fully eliminate both departments by 2026. What say you?

FEMA needs to be expanded
We have more natural disasters than ever

No. States will be bitching they did not get their fair share because they are blue states.

FEMA is there to provide emergency relief as it is needed

You can’t allocate money in anticipation of a future disaster.
FEMA is there for states that are overwhelmed by a disaster

I agree. We could probably throw a few more of those departments in there too. We seem to have a lot of redundancy in law enforcement and very few of them are useful today.

FEMA should be a coordination and material re-enforcement agency only. It shouldn't get to dicate how things are accomplished.

Contact the State agency responsible, provide liaisons, provide funding, coordinate the military and civilian government agencies that provide direct labor and materials to the response.

FEMA has the resources and expertise.
They should make the rules rather than rely on 50 different sets of rules

For local emergencies, states should have responsibilities
But for massive, multistate disasters….we need a federal response

Let all 50 states chip in on disasters impacting one or two states

They have rules that aren't suited to local conditions. They should support the locals, not dominate them.

A federal response doesn't mean federal domination.

Tell that to renters who have been hit by a natural disaster. They don't get shit.

Ummm you just take your monthly rent money and take it somewhere else
So you don't think renters have a life times' worth of possessions and other valuables like other folks, that it?

. . . . .hmmm. Interesting. You really live up to the name. . . "rightwinger."

We need a whole new system. FEMA and insurance companies don't work. They're both worried more about making money than they are about people in need. Alot of things are like that nowadays. Banks, drug companies, multinationals, politicians. We should probably replace most of those things.

FEMA works
With climate change, we need them more than ever

FEMA could adapt and slim down to a narrowly focused role of doing only what the states can't, or it could stubbornly unemploy itself. Regional multistate compacts may eventually replace FEMA and other federal agencies.

Congress is free to end FEMA. I am sure it will work out great for the poor MAGA states.
