The majority of audits are already in people earning less than $100,000, they are simply upping the ante.

Joe Biden and Democrats hate the working class/middle class, thus they celebrate with great joy 87,000 soon-to-be-minted IRS agents to attack those groups.

A former lawyer for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), who accused the agency of going after elderly Americans, says President Joe Biden’s “Inflation Reduction Act” will undoubtedly target working and middle class Americans with new IRS audits.
Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, signed into law on Tuesday, includes $80 billion for new IRS audits on American taxpayers. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that at least $20 billion will be taken from working and middle class Americans earning less than $400,000 a year as a result of the increased IRS audits.
William Henck, a former IRS lawyer, told Fox Business Network that executives at the biggest corporations and billionaires are “sitting back laughing right now” as Biden signs the Inflation Reduction Act.
“The idea that they’re going to open things up and go after these big billionaires and large corporations is quite frankly bulls–t. It’s not going to happen. They’re going to give themselves bonuses and promotions and really nice conferences,” Henck said:
“The big corporations and the billionaires are probably sitting back laughing right now,” he continued. [Emphasis added]
…

There will be considerable incentive to basically to shake down taxpayers, and the advantage the IRS has is they have basically unlimited resources and no accountability, whereas a taxpayer has to weigh the cost of accountants, tax lawyers — fighting something in tax court,” Henck told FOX Business. [Emphasis added]

Billionaires Bill Gates and Tom Steyer have both voiced support for the Inflation Reduction Act, even as the establishment media has admitted the plan will not cut prices for American consumers “anytime soon.”
...
The analysis, which is a conservative estimate based upon recent audit rates and tax filing data, shows that individuals with an annual income of $75,000 or less would be subject to 710,863 additional Internal Revenue Service (IRS) audits while those making more than $1 million would receive 52,295 more audits under the bill. The legislation, the Inflation Reduction Act, would roughly double the IRS’ budget to increase enforcement and, therefore, federal tax revenue. [Emphasis added]

Overall, the IRS would conduct more than 1.2 million more annual audits of Americans’ tax returns, according to the analysis. Another 236,685 of the estimated additional audits would target individuals with an annual income between $75,000 and $200,000. [Emphasis added]

The ones that can afford accountants will do as always. The accountants will save them every penny by following the tax laws to the letter, same as has been for years.
On the other hand the poor schmuck that can not afford a high priced accountant will be the one to pay and pay through the nose.
Thank god the poor and middle class are not only getting squeezed by high prices and wages that will not come close to keeping up. They are getting hit at the pump and now are looking at paying more in taxes Because the new IRS will need to show they are doing something.

We know this is all coming.

Why would they more than double irs agents?

If it's to go after billionaires then why so many agents? There aren't that many billionaires. And billionaires aren't hard to deal with because they have tax attorneys to handle that stuff, it's very cut and dry and everything handled over the phone or email.

They also won't go after the rich and powerful because the government officials that did this are the rich and or powerful. They won't do anything that would also put them in any cross hairs. And the wealthy elite are the ones who give them money and donations.

No, this is entirely about going after middle America. Middle America generates waaaayyyyyy more tax revenue than the wealthy because we are the vast majority of the country.

I think the rich and elite and many politicians hate middle Americans. They want the money, the land, the goods, and to own everything. We're lesser beings to them. A big shot ceo of a company doesn't care about the low level employee, they just want to them to do their job and to cost the least amount as possible because they don't see them as people, they are just numbers in a report. That's how the elite see middle Americans.

They will cut middle Americans down as far as they can and they will do it by taxing them out of what they can.

If the current administration doesn't lose in 2024 I honestly I think by 2025 we will see tax season be twice a year. Guns will be taxed. Gas cars will be taxed. property tax will go up. Bank transactions will be monitored and taxed. They can easily tax a lot of people out of what they own and swoop in and scoop it up, land will be their primary goal.
