Interest expenses for fiscal year 2011 owed on U.S. National Debt This is a bi-partisan problem of epic proportions. Everybody needs to get their heads out of their asses, and come up with a solution.

Government - Interest Expense on the Debt Outstanding

That's one reason shutting the government over a difference of $28 billion is stupid. It will cost more than that which will only add to the debt.
 
Right on Beowolf. The difference between the two parties equals less then 7 days worth of interest on our mega-trillion dollar debt. If you do the math it'll become self evident that insolvency for the USA looms on the very near horizon.
