I was being facetious. I prefer the AR-15 platform but own an AK. I had a shitload of 7.62x39 ammo in 2016 and figured Hillary would try to pass another ban, so I bought a new AK.

Thousands of rounds through it since then, without a hiccup. But the reality is that since 7.62x39 is the common round used by the Eastern Bloc and Russia, the logistics of supplying 5.56mm to Ukrainians would be silly. Although, some of the weapons the Ukes use are chambered for the NATO standard. 5.56mm.
