He had to have known he was going to get caught and just tried to blow it as fast as he could before he was. His wife and daughter were also arrested, his wife spent $663,000 and the daughter spent $109,000.

Yep, we had a woman that ran the local Economic Development Authority convicted in federal court (after years).

The local Sheriff at the time was tied up in it too. He shot himself over it. There were a bunch more tied-up in it that either pleaded to lesser charges or wiggled out of it altogether. It was a fuckin' mess.

They really don't know the full extent but they got her for embezzling at least 6.5 million. It's been going on two years since the conviction and the bitch has not been sentenced yet....Delay after delay.

It all stemmed from a total lack of oversight by the governing boards even though one member raised suspicions of wrongdoing early on but it was ignored and even shouted down at one point.

Same thing happened locally, the woman in charge of the public television station stole $600,000 and when an audit discovered this money missing, she blew her brains out the next day. The entire 11 member board of directors were released and a new board brought in.

It all boils down to people not doing their jobs, and someone realizing it and then their greed just takes over and they can't help themselves. Where did the wife think all that money was coming from?
