Great movie.

Tibbs is obviously higher up the food chain than Steiger and his mates and as a movie it shows up the inherent evil that prevailed in the South at that time.

Is it accurate or just Hollywood.

Steigers Sheriff steals the show and you feel that somewhere in there is a human being trying to break out.

The plot is preposterous but the acting is kick ass.
