Extensions are different from dreds. Extensions are replaced over weeks. That’s a long time between shampoos. Dreds are probably never undone. Filthy rope.

This is an old thread but pilots are not allowed to have facial hair. It's not allowed because in an emergency depressurization, they have to be able to wear an O2 mask without it leaking around their face. Any facial hair would prevent a good seal and could endanger the lives of all on board.
