In Texas I've met and gotten to know many first generation immigrants, including a few who came to the country illegally or overstayed their visa. Two common themes I heard from them were:
1) "I am Mexican. 100%!." Okay, to be honest, one I dated for a while said "10%!" But, I knew what she meant. People who get in illegaly are far less likely to be "aspiring Americans," or "New Americans," than those who use the immigration system the legal way.
2) "Texas/California/former Mexican possessions in the Southwest of the United States are 'really' still part of Mexico." The theory is that each Mexican President has in turn been bribed by the U.S. to not exercise their right to reclaim their territory in internation court.
I'm sure that is the sentiment behind waving the flag. That or the Soros funded organizer was passing out Mexican flags that day.
I rarely heard that they wanted to go back. But maybe they were being polite. I was friends with them. I hate illegal immigration, but I don't blame individual illegals. I almost married one of them, I, I teach them, I fight for their educational rights if they have a disability. I talk to their parent in my terrible Spanish until they give up and get someone to interprett for the conversation.
Anyway, if they did have dreams of going back, they were single men. That dream died (as so many do) when they got married. They did not wave the American flag, nor the MAGA flag. But their kids tend to be as American as Spaghetti, as American as a Fortune cookie, as American as Apple Pie, and as American as breaded veal cutlett, AKA Weinerschnittzle.

I have a friend from Spain. The words are mostly the same, but hers has a classy EUROPEAN sound. "Spanish" speakers in this hemisphere sound ghetto and primitive.
But that was an aside. The point of the post was the CONTEMPT these people have for us. We are being USED and the left fights for these people

yea i am ...in S.Cal there many Hispanics from many different countries.....not just Mexico.....and yea carl they have differences...
