I don't know enough of the situation was to make a judgment. If it's tithing and the man makes $20,000 a year then $2,000 is 10% which is the tithing amount. Or, $20,000 a month, still $2,000 a month, not $1,500. The real key is that tithing is a donation. However, spiritually, without paying an honest tithe, you are robbing God. There are also other offerings as well as the tithe. Offerings to the sick and afflicted. There could be other offerings like a building fund or missionary fund a well. Maybe a welfare fund too. Jesus asked the rich man to give all that he had moneywise. And the widow mite gave the last of what she had.
