The link is speculation based on reading chinese tea leaves

Because no one outside of the CCP inner circle really knows whats going on

But we know Xi cannot hold onto power forever

If he goes what happens to his militant mercantile policies that are do worrisome to Western leaders

Will the next junta be better or worse?

Bad. At least Trump has a relationship with Xi. If Xi is overthrown, it will be because military operatives in the country feel he is not doing enough and will replace him with someone taking a much harsher stance with America.

As things stand anyway, China might attack Taiwan this summer.

It depends on the replzcement but I would presume if Xi is replaced it is because the CCP are not happy that he turned his back on America, capitalism and generated a distrust around the globe. The leader before Xi was more willing to become more like America, Xi seemed more interested in reinforcing the old.Communist system. The West must not be fooled again regardless.

Probably more militaristic considering he got rid of a bunch of the moderates.

XI would be the perfect frenemy, we kinda need him for control but he's not a friend but not a total enemy, the lines can be blurred

I think if Xi is replaced, things with the US will get better, temporarily. They will use Xi as their fall guy and blame the unfair trade policies on him. Then they will make new deals more acceptable to the US, with the intention of breaking those agreements whenever they think they can get away with it, like they did with Clinton, the Bushes, Obama and Biden. Dealing with China in the future is going to take a much higher level of attention, one which is beyond the Democrat's desires and capabilities.

There are replacements for XI that much more Hawkish than Dovish.
Those who would have stormed Taiwanese beach heads long ago.
Than commandeered half of the Phillipines just because of their strategic importance and bombed Japan because they might decide to rise up against them....and they have great engineers.

There most definitely is a mess brewing in the Pacific Rim....

And we need allies.
Korea might not be an ally soon....depending on which President they elect. The one favored to win just might join with North Korea....that would be an unmitigated disaster. But Chinese propaganda (TicTok and Facebook) is certainly helping things go south and fast.

People do not understand Communist/Socialist policies are impossible to remove once put in place. It requires a complete bloody revolution to gain your independence back from these people once they have it.

Communism/Socialism kills.....it is the leading cause of death and poverty this century as well as last century.

Thats possible

Or moderates who want a return to less confrontational, more capitalist policies that china had before Xi took power

Its difficult for outsiders to know which is which

The moderates are still around, lurking in the shadows

South Korea seems to be evenly split between libs who are ambivalent toward national defense, and conservatives who see communism for the evil that it is

Much like the split in America

At the very least S Korea is apt to sit on the sidelines in a future war between the US and china

If S Korea falls to Communism....it ought to be a lesson to the rest of the world about the evils of communism.

The lack of electricity is a major clue.
Cell phones? Ha ha ha....you can't have one on North Korea. No need to charge one there. No internet.
Russia?
Only in the big cities do cell phones work unless you got a sat phone.

Communism destroys infrastructure.

Lol, ya just don't know till a few decades after the fact. Unless you are a prophet. We are supposed to get one per generation. I have not found him or her, yet

Unlike American libs I rate South Korean libs as crazy but not stupid

They dont want to submit to the North Koreans, but tHey fear a war with the North

The South is wealthy and comfortable and they dont want to lose that in a war
