Well, conveniently putting aside Russias nukes and larger military, there is the issue of logistics. It would have taken these carriers far longer to get to Russia, the U.S would not have air force support from Israel which would have knocked out Russias ability to launch ground to air missiles, Russia is significantly larger in land size and population, and, China is in the area and might consider risking their own governments safety for the first time in such a scenario. Regime change is not going to be easy without boots on the ground. At this juncture this is as much or more a task for the CIA. My country used to be a major player until we allowed police apparatuses to destroy citizens domestically and now we do not have , Americas trust and faith in democracy, trade, or civil liberties. Russia does not have an offensive nuclear strategy. They are not religious fanatics. Iran is an immediate threat Russia is long term threat thats in decline. Russia is easily contained with sanctions. Deposing the Iran regime will have a serious negative effect on Russia's economy
