If Trump was in office do you think Putin would even threaten much less invade Ukraine?

Not a chance in hell. Crimea was one thing… the whole country not a chance. Trump would be waving the sword very hard abs Russia wouldn’t risk a direct military confrontation with the US. Trump wouldn’t back down (not sure that would be a good thing though).

No.......our energy independence and Trump pressuring Germany to cancel the russian pipeline would have crippled his ability to make moves against Ukraine and other countries....

Agreed

Yes. Putin is going to do what he wants in spite of the US president. He had this shit timed to coincide with political turmoil caused by his unwitting republican collaborators in the US. When it all goes up republicans will do all they can to hobble our response to Russian agression.

The only collaborators are in the democrat party and biden's staff.

Trump would probably given him Ukraine in exchange for a bunch of trademarks.

Of course not.

Trump presided over an age of plenty, there was no reason for the Russian people or anyone else to fight over crumbs.

OTOH, Brandon and the D's seek scarcity, and when the people are struggling, the possibility of conflict skyrockets.
Crimea wasn't the same situation at all. Ukraine only took over the peninsula during the reign of Khrushchev- the Ukrainian firebrand- in the old USSR. Crimea is legitimately part of Russia and has been for a long time.

We shouldn't have any response to Russian aggression in Ukraine at all. It is clearly none of our business. If we were still energy independent and able to supply western Europe with LNG there would be no Russian aggression.

I believe Putin would have invaded and nothing much could have been done unless you want all out war that could lead to a World War…

An expansionist power in Europe is cause for dire concern. Eventually everyone gets into the act. Empire builders are never satisfied. When someone starts snatching territory everyone else knows they are on the invade list somewhere.

Based on past behavior you cannot make the case that Trump would be a deterrent to Putin invading Ukraine. He was nauseatingly weak on Putin and Russia.

Actually you are confusing the Trumpster with B. Hussein O, who promised "tell Vlad I'll be more flexible after the election"

Trump and Putin had something going on between them.
Something good? Something nefarious?
It's not important what it was if it would have prevented the current brinkmanship with Russia.

And fwiw, no American should be believing Biden when he says that America won't become involved with troops in Ukraine fighting against Russians.

The situation will have changed and Biden will be given license to change his mind, and he will be supported by the majority.

Now, all that needs to happen is to get Russia to invade. Is the false flag provocation already planned for some time within the next 12 or 24 hours?

The Cry Baby Loser's groveling before the KGB thug aside, his being constantly pissy about NATO was one of Pooty Poot's primary reasons for conspiring to get him elected.

Throughout his presidency, Trump expressed admiration for autocratic leaders like Russian President Vladimir Putin, while criticizing US allies and institutions like NATO. Experts say Trump's amicable disposition toward Putin and disdain for international and democratic norms emboldened the Russian president, as well as other strongmen leaders around the world.
Fiona Hill, who served as the top Russia advisor on the National Security Council in the Trump administration, in a New York Times op-ed on Monday said Trump's influence on the US gave Putin an opportunity to renew aggression toward Ukraine.
"From Russia's perspective, America's domestic travails after four years of President Donald Trump's disastrous presidency, as well as the rifts he created with US allies and then America's precipitous withdrawal from Afghanistan, signal weakness," FIONA HILL
