The goal is to reclaim the territory they lost to the United States. Per Mexico's former president: "Where goes a Mexican, there is Mexico."

IMHO:

1. There are many "great" things about Mexico:

a. The food is delicious.
b. American retirees there find their money goes further.
c. Mexicans in general are not so uptight as Americans.

2. There are many things that are not "great":

a. The corruption (both petty and major) is terrible.
b. There are not enough decent-paying jobs for everyone.

I think that 2b is the main reason that so many poor Mexicans come here.

If one were a solid middle-class Mexican, why would one want to come here with our high taxes, ethnic "unpleasantness," puritanical laws, etc.?
