Are you suggesting that Trump is so thick, he looked at the polling in 2020 and then suddenly gave up?

The entire idea of a presidential debate is nuts if you think about it. In what scenario will a President have 2 minutes to respond verbally on her or his own with no input from advisors while the whole electorate is watching? The questions being asked of the candidates are from the media folks, many of whom are millionaires or high net worth individuals in their own right. Nothing is wrong with having a nice living but the majority of the people that the President-elect will represent are not so financially well off. Not that you could get a straight answer out of them if you did put Jane Q. Public in the room with them and had her ask questions directly. And if they could get a straight answer, it would mean very little. Jane's life is more affected by the school board, the state legislature, the mayor, the county judge and the chief of police and the sheriff than the president.

Hopefully we can grow away from this practice.
