I just read a news article today that said that the IDF are reading their Torah - more! It truly blessed me to read that! God bless the IDF! It is good to seek the LORD! I was so very blessed to read that news report today, Hossfly! I will have to find that news article and post it for others. God willing.

Murdering children by day, stealing land all week, and provoking wish-they-were-sleeping-villagers by night.
But reading a book about a fundamentalist vengeful inhumane god makes them 'good'?

Israel saw the largest spontaneous demonstrations in its history at the same time the occupy movement was busy making a nuisance of itself in New York. The issue was the same: the ever widening rift between the few with big money and the vast majority who struggle to get by. Many Israeli mothers with disabled kids were on the streets demonstrating because social programs that benefit their children are cut to the bone.

Yet tens of billions are available for bombs, nuclear missiles, submarines, Abrams tanks, and F-16's. The fundamental rift in Israel as it has evolved, is a great disappointment by much of the population in what Israel has become in its 70 years of existence. That's why the left is such a voice of cynicism in Israel. They're an ever louder voice that may yet lead the country down a much different path than the one it tramps today.

Most military pay depends on not just rank but if they are combat/high risk jobs, if they have family, the type of uniforms/supplies they need, etc.
Most are compensated with off base rent and utilities, food/commissary, medical, insurance, education, low interest loans.....

Every military is underpaid compared to civilian jobs comparable.
IDF got a 21% increase last year.
