Being watched by a German cavalryman.

The old world, watching the new world ... with the old world soon to disappear almost completely.

I saw a political cartoon during the Vietnam conflict that told the story succinctly. It showed an American tank mired in a rice patty and a VC passing by it in a two wheeled cart pulled by a water buffalo. Spoke volumes.
