A recruiting email sent this week by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s deputy director is part of a federal hiring blitz of officers, but the promise of a $50,000 signing bonus directed at local sheriff’s deputies isn’t sitting well with some officials, who feel their departments are being poached.

More than $46 billion of President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” has been allocated to hiring an additional 10,000 ICE officers and employees. But to add manpower, ICE Deputy Director Madison Sheahan is actively targeting local departments with existing 287 (g) contracts with the federal government that allow local officers to cooperate with immigration enforcement efforts.

In the email, which was obtained by NewsNation, Sheahan asks local law enforcement officers to consider joining ICE “during a critical time for our nation.”

The email, which is sent from an ICE email address with the name “Join The Mission,” also promises a $10,000 for a new hire reaching their fifth anniversary. A minimum of five years is required to receive the incentives, the email said.

The email also directs potential applicants to a hiring website, which, in addition to the signing bonus, offers the possibility of receiving up to $60,000 in student loan repayment and premium payment.

“America has been invaded by criminals and predators,” the website reads. “We need YOU to get them out.”

It reminds me of what happened when TSA was expanded by W.....It pretty much cleaned out the smaller SDs, PDs, and VDOC anywhere near Dulles airport.

If a officer had a year in he/she could go to the TSA and make almost twice what what they were making to start. There for a while VDOC was just a training center for TSA.

It did have the effect of forcing VDOC and the smaller PD/SD departments to up their pay.

When do we send the bill for all of this to Bedpan Joe Biden?

Wow you mean the Blob administration didn’t think about collateral damage before acting? Say it isn’t so! That would be almost as dumb as someone having to re-hire hundreds of employees it fired two days before.

The smaller PD's rob from the larger ones, so this is just the system balancing itself.

How many NYPD officers put in 10-20 years and then end up Sherrif of some podunk Upstate village?

TSA didn't pay shit! TSA all started as part-time work, or split shift. The pay was marginal considering you had to commute long distances, and you even had to pay for your own parking at the airport!
You are either dead wrong or simply making this shit up!

How do I know this? I applied and was hired by TSA, but I already had another job. I was at work on my first day at my new job when I got called to report for training.

My daughter was hired and worked for them for 3 years. She waited almost a year for a full-time position.
