A fun sci-fi horror opus inspired by the great remake The Thing [1982]. Enjoy!

Amlan was stationed in the Arctic, for a very special mission involving land surveys for the US. He was assisted by various team-members, including soldiers and scientists, and they're armed only with flame-throwers on what's named Ice Station World (ISW).
AMLAN: I'm very excited for this mission and consider my chambers quite handsome and private and look forward to great work.
The scientist among the members of ISW included Ezzy Pointe, an Algerian and expert in environmental impact. She'd been trekking in the ice lately, upon reports from mission-control in DC that a strange spacecraft was found/detected on radar in the area.
AMLAN: Before we get any evidence of such 'sightings' here in the cold ice, we're remaining nerdy and reserved about excitement/concern!
Fortunately, in the 'event' that the spacecraft is an alien ship, with an on-board alien 'intelligence' of dangerous hostility, the members (soldiers, scientists, Amlan, etc.) are adequately armed with Bo-Ring flame-throwers, which are quite handy indeed.
AMLAN: My goodness; the spacecraft is indeed discovered and we're currently entering and exploring and reporting; there's possible life here.
Life it was but an alien 'Thing' of hideous character/proportion and the ability to grow rapidly and 'merge' with human flesh in a parasitic predatory 'relationship' which gives it the ability to multiply with great energy. Amlan and the purely horrified members of ISW have no choice whatsoever now but to fire at the alien Thing with their flame-throwers until all 'digits' of it are simply ashes.
AMLAN: Three members of our beloved ice-station have been bloody murdered by that 'Thing' from the alien spaceship; we're alive by fire!
Amlan gets his face on the cover of National Geographic and the NSA has taken over all specifications of the deadly encounter with the Thing in the icy Arctic. Amlan is now the 'Jacques Cousteau' of the sci-fi folklore world, and he recounts simply, "That nemesis-experience simply brought all of us, in our chambers or in the ice, to the realization(s) of basic divinity."
Trees Live In Symbiosis With Hyphae (fungus/mold Roots). A Tea Spoon Of Dirt Contains Kilometers Of These Roots. One Species Can Spread Throughout Entire Forests Over Centuries. They Exchange Nutrients With Trees, Along With Information About Insects, Drought And Other Dangers. It's Like A 'wood Wide Web' (Peter Wohlleben).
