I guess this weirdo was trying to kill ICE staff but got the detainees instead, one of whom was a father of 4 expecting a 5th child. I feel for his family, but why do illegals come here and set up a home, buy a house as he did and live as though... they are not illegal?

He was said to be a good person, but some time before he was killed, he was driving while intoxicated and trying to flee from the cops.

The motive was most likely a deep resentment or hatred for President Trump. No Trump-supporter would ever protest at an ICE facility, much less, shoot at one.

I don't think he meant to kill the detainees, and yet, how could he not know he was aiming directly at them?

I remember a time when there were NO shootings-none. Or if there were, my father never told us about them but I tend to think I would have heard about them anyway

If he was deliberately trying to hit ICE agents and not a detainee, he's a pretty crappy shot. He was shooting a 30-06 chambered Mauser rifle, which are generally sighted in at 100 yards. I seriously doubt that rifle was sighted in very well. At 200 yards, a 150 grain 30-06 bullet is going to have dropped 6.62", and 24.87" by the time it reaches 300 yards. So the shooter was probably just aiming at the ICE van, and not targeting individuals inside it.

It's sad... the shooter looks like he didn't have a soul at all. When you lose your soul, you lose your mind. I don't know if you saw the photo of him but rarely have I seen such soul-less look.

Pretty close. The character in the movie was having sex with his sister.

But back to the OP, I'd bet money that the shooter's motive was "This will show that Trump and his fascist ICE agents." The shooting has all the earmarks of a politically-motivated terrorist attack.
