ICE dropped the SIG P320 and went with the Glock COA.

Word is no new Glock COA's will be sold to the civilian market for the unforeseeable time frame. Why? They are going to ICE.

They (ICE) got around the 10K in procurement "competition rule" by just ordering 11 COAs at a time till the 48 million contract is fulfilled.

I guess ICE said **** all that competition BS (that can drag on for years) and went with a tried and true system.

Glock is being smart. Because of government regulations they can charge thousands for a pistol that costs less than $700.

/—-/ What is COA?

I believe the unit cost is around the retail price.....Again, I don't know if that includes spare parts and the like.
The Devil is in the details.

I remember when Obama was POTUS they would only allow minority contractors with employees or subcontractors that were getting full benefits to bid on contracts.

The CTF at 5th Group needed to be repainted....and the contractor that won bid $98,000.00 to paint two floors in a building that wasn't very big. He forgot to read the details of the contract. 5th Group wanted a color change, which the contractor didn't take into account. He was planning on doing some touch-ups instead, but 5th group wanted to change the hallways from Infantry Blue to Forest Green like our berets. The contractor had a shit-fit when he found out the color change and wanted to change the price to another $100.000.00 + $98,000.00. He wasn't planning on painting all of the walls. Classrooms were to be repainted to off-white. He was thinking the job would last a week but it ended up lasting 6 months.

A friend of mine and I bid to repaint a school for $20,000.00 and he only paid me $10.00/hr with zero medical or dental. But military contracts cost much more because of federal regulation requirements.

That's why they are only buying 11 units at a time, to avoid the over 10K competition BS.....ICE knows what it wants. Contract competition breeds political interference.

I bet they have that .gov CC on speed dial. ;)
