This feels a lot worse than merely failing to keep a promise. The congress knew the country was facing a huge threat by illegals, Americans were alarmed by it, they asked the congress to close the border but the congress failed to do so. It almost feels like treason to me.

Multiple administrations have been guilty. They have in effect, undermined the labour rights that Americans fought for over decades. You can suggest NAFTA did the same. In some ways it also hurt Canadian labour workers but to a lesser degree. The one major difference I will suggest that Biden admin disregarded is the current environment. It's not 1982, and the U.S is not in the same position. His team knows you already have many millions of illegals, it's a key irritant of Americans, your system is stretched, you lose 100k to poisons each year and you have a disappearing middle class. Open Borders was the worst policy for Americas future. You want high performing innovators and investors, not the very same low skilled labour your governments have been saying is being replaced by machines. You created another largely dependent underclass, or, a group undercutting U.S workers employment protections. You allowed Central.and South America to move north without a struggle
