I Met Two Waitresses Last Evening - a Point about Economics

Less government employees will create more private jobs and a better economy. Looking forward Trump has created a solid foundation for growth after the Biden disaster.
It means we get less government services

We can start by eliminating the student loan programs. It has enriched the colleges but has been a disaster for students.
Good idea

Let only the wealthy kids attend college

DOGE was a dog and pony show.
But very illustrative of the absolute resistance to any cuts of any size being applied to any part of the budget. Even slowing the rate of growth is forbidden.

They provided nothing of any substance and all the same what has been the results? Continuing the deficits of the past.

And why has tuition exploded to the point only the wealthy can actually afford it, one must ask? When I attended college, a student could work a part time job and graduate with very little debt. Not anymore, and I do not believe that the value of education has increased enough to justify the increase.

Let's apply a little logic here. The government makes it easy for students to amass huge education debts and the costs skyrocket. There's no connection? The bottom line is, when government starts paying the price, the price always goes up in a big way.

That's my point. It simply didn't matter WHAT they proposed to cut, the usual suspects circled the wagons and screeched about the sky falling, dogs and cats living together, real apocolyptic stuff.

I made minimum wage over the summers and graduated with no debt.

What happened is government stopped subsidizing tuition and it was made up for with loans

Also gives us Medicare and VA
Holy shit, the VA? That is your gold standard that single payer will bring to us all?

Are you not aware that the VA has security to patrol its parking lots due to the high number of veterans commoting suicide there after trying in vain to get help?

Because it was NOT a serious effort.

Government backed student loans put the student in debt that cannot be discharged in bankruptcy and must be paid back. You can literally pay more on the loan than the amount you borrowed and owe more than when you started. The issue is that schools have no incentive to keep costs low, and the more government pumps into the system, the higher those costs are going to go.

Because it was NOT a serious effort.
Okay, they targeted true waste, and the usual suspects came unglued. What "serious" cuts could they have proposed that would NOT have resulted in the very same reactions?

Where do we start? With a serious effort and no longer voting for those who increase the debt.

Kind of vague there.

That doesn't address the question. You claimed DOGE proposed cuts don't count because they weren't serious. I'm simply asking you what "serious" cuts would have NOT been met with the extreme reactions we saw?

IOW, it wasn't DOGE's fault that very few cuts were even attempted, that's squarely on Congress.

No longer re-electing those who vote for added debt is not vague.

It's irrelevant. Someone will condemn anything. Republicans have been really good at this.

"If we actually made cuts, Democrats will condemn us".

LOL

So, again you don't propose any "serious" cuts you think would get Congressional approval. Basically, it's irrelevant what you think about DOGE being serious or not because Congress just won't let spending be cut at all.

Across the board 10% the first year.
