They even have convinced some Americans that it is all the Republicans' fault:

Most Congress folks I know did not expect this, myself included. Historically, the party forcing the shutdown “owns” the shutdown and the public opinion consequences. That was true for Republicans in 1995, 2013 and 2018-2019. In this case, Democrats are filibustering a clean continuing resolution (CR) to reopen the government. It doesn’t really matter if Republicans control all three branches. If Democrats stopped filibustering the CR, the government would reopen. And yet, early polling has blamed Republicans.

Okay, Democrats don't like the Big Beautiful Bill. We knew that from all the cute names they came up with for it. So yes, filibuster something in protest. Filibuster something that Republicans care deeply about, something very partisan.

But why filibuster the whole freaking government? By Allah, that is overkill!

It is Democrats who care deeply about having a large and growing government, providing highly paid government jobs, and lots of regulation for our commerce and our personal lives. Republicans want government much smaller. Why give them exactly what they want as a supposed punishment for them not giving you what you want?

Come the 15th, when paychecks don't go out to your consituents in the federal workforce, you will be under enormous pressure to simply sign the clean CR. Most likely that will be the end of it, and you will have humiliated yourselves.

Why?

Because really it's the only thing they can do these days to keep themselves relevant, even if it is shooting themselves in the foot.

The obligation of the Congress should be to pass a balanced budget. Neither side has any desire to put in the work.

To shine a light on the POT's priorities and their consequences.

The BBB is part of the plan to end the democrats power structure. They use the government to create policies that support their beliefs. Such as billions form DEI training, or useless trans research. Then they insert loyal government workers and they get paid off with tax payer funds. Trump is removing all of this thats why democrats are s\shutting down the government. They demand trillions for illegals and media that supports their policies. Its all about power.

Fair answer as far as motivation. But why the whole government, harming those most helpless without it?

Why didnt they filibuster the BBB in the first place?

That trillion the vile dems want would go directly to the now defunded NGOs that was a huge part of DNC funding through the money laundering of taxpayer dollars back into DNC coffers.

Simply put....The vile dem beast is being starved and is lashing out.

It isn't any matter of who gets the blame from the partisans. When it comes to the public's dissatisfaction, those in power suffer the consequence.

/-----/ It's a lack of leadership. As bad as Nancy Piglosi was as leader, she kept everyone in line.
