I'm amazed by how many intelligent people I meet, both on this forum and in real life, who are unable see this debate as anything beyond black & white, good & evil. In doing so, most pro-Israelis seem totally unaware how like pro-Palestinians they sounds, and visa versa.

My prediction will be that 90% of the responses to this thread will reflect exactly the kind of black & white thinking Molina criticises here.

sometimes, there is black and white. were i alive at the time, i would not look for the safe, moderate ground between die Weiße Rose and the national socialists. i would fight the NAZIs to my death.

citisens of states may be stereotyped and, at tmes, they may deserve it. i am not sure states can be stereotyped. it is especially hard to discuss when no particular stereotypes are mentioned.

in my opinion, while many of the pro-palestinian posters employ similar techniques to the pro-israeli posters on occassion, i do not think they sound anything alike.

the pro-palestinian posters point out the oppressive actions of the israeli government and the pro-israeli posters try to ustify this oppression.

i think your desire to look for the middle ground is admirable and should always be the first practice, as you do here with your post. it is not, however, a religion.

But the question is how we, as people often thousands od miles from Berlin, Kabul or Moscow, determine truth from propaganda. In the case of Israel and Palestine, I think both sides fail miserably. Virtually all we see on this board is ill-informed, partisan and frequently racist to boot.

Denying that reality does not make things any better for the Palestinian people: it does not do anything to correct the errors and wrongs which Israel has done.

Calling me nasty names does not change the fact that another poster here has been promoting ideas which are antithetical to American law, custom, and tradition. Those ideas are wrong and evil no matter if there weren't any Jews anywhere: or didn't you NOTICE his words about separating the races?????

well, generally i use the jewish mainstream press, both liberal and conservative, and sort through and ilter the opinion.

facts are facts.

then, sometimes i take into account normal human behaviour, which is for the most part predictable or consistant.

and then we go to reasonable doubt...

Certainly I think the word Nazi is used far too often in this forum, whereas to my way of thinking the word should only be used with the respect the 11 million victims of Nazism deserve. The word 'Nazi' should not be used as a joke, nor as a generic insult.

On the other hand, defending Hitler and Nazi Germany, and expressing racial hatred of either Jews or Palestinian is basically fascist, and if you aren't comfortable with being labeled such - give some thought to what you post.
