Breaking: Hostages being released as President Trump visits Israel

It's 2:41 AM CST now. If you're sleeping now like most normal folks do, you're probably missing this. Israeli news is now reporting that all living hostages have been handed over to the Red Cross.

Seven freed hostages in IDF custody, en route to Israel in first round of releases

The first seven hostages to be released were named as: Matan Engerst, Alon Ohel, Eitan Mor, Gali and Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, and Guy Gilboa-Dalal.

"The IDF at 9:10 a.m. on Monday received seven out of the 20 remaining live hostages back from Hamas via the The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The hostages are Matan Angrest, Alon Ohel, Eitan Mor, Gali and Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, and Guy Gilboa-Dalal.

By 8:10 a.m., the ICRC had already received the hostages from Hamas.

There are two more expected hostage transfers due to take place later Monday.

The three expected locations for the transfers are Gaza City, central Gaza, and Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.

If the live hostages are stable, they will move from Red Cross custody to IDF special forces custody, then to the Re'im base, and then to the three hospitals: Sheba, Ichilov, and Beilinson.
However, if a live hostage is in immediate medical danger, a helicopter will be sent to rush them to Soroka Medical Center or to Barzilai Medical Center. The IDF expects that some deceased hostages will be returned on Monday, but has no set numbers about how many, and is prepared for that part of the process to be drawn over multiple days or longer.

Part of the process will also involve identifying the remains with specific hostages.

According to the IDF, Hamas is bound to assist a joint mechanism associated with the Trump ceasefire to help locate other deceased hostages where finding them may be less of an exact science.

The ICRC will also transfer around 2,000 Palestinian security prisoners held in Israeli prisons to the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and locations outside of Israel, such as Qatar and Turkey.

Gaza hostage releases come amid IDF withdrawals, Trump visit

The handover follows the IDF’s full repositioning over the weekend, a key condition for activating the first tranche of the agreement. The government had simultaneously prepared a parallel list of Palestinian prisoners for release, with final approvals confirmed just ahead of implementation. Disputes over specific names and timing were resolved in recent days as part of finalizing the schedule.

Monday’s release marks the beginning of a rolling process expected to continue over the coming days. Additional groups, including deceased hostages, are to be freed in coordination with further Red Cross-supervised exchanges, under the same verification and transfer protocols. Movements are tracked from staging areas in Gaza to border transfer points and onward to reception centers in Israel.

The releases coincide with a high-profile visit to Israel by US President Donald Trump, who is expected to land later on Monday and speak at the Knesset."

Some Arabs are worse than others. The Gazan Arabs are near the bottom of the barrel. That’s why Egypt doesn’t want them.

That would be the most logical place for them.

Don’t most of them come from Egypt?

Arafat, the great inventor, was one of them.

Is it clear to anyone right now who will inhabit Gaza and for how long? It has been bombed to rubble, whoever lives there needs a lot more than a few cans of milk. Newspaper fodder, media calls Israel's "prisoners" and Hamas' "hostages", but whoever resides in Gaza are prisoners. I just can't see the Jews letting anyone else reside there. I hope I'm wrong. This is going to cause more violence and someone a lot of money, I hope they have it.
I do not want the United States being on the hook to rebuild that whole area. It may take a trillion dollars or even more. The citizens of Gaza vote Hamas into power. Then we talk of Ukraine. The same.

First, let’s celebrate and applaud President Trump and his team for brokering a peace deal many said would be impossible - and for the return of the remaining 20 innocent hostages.

Second, the second phase of the deal involves most Arab countries in the rebuilding of Gaza. It is obvious that Islamic terrorists will try to regain power and continue its goal to exterminate Israel, so it takes multiple countries to insure it will not happen.
This could possibly lead to a real positive outcome; it all depends on what the US does from here on. It seems like we've taken on some sort of a role as facilitator, and that means that we have to stop being an Israeli tool and focus on the new task, which is insuring a lasting settlement. It would mean honestly moderating any further aggression form either side and taking appropriate action. I don't think we could do it just based on the foreign choke hold on Congress, but I suppose anything is possible. It would require honesty and transparency from the State Department or whatever is set up to fund all this effort, and you can judge the odds of that for yourself. Whatever happens the next CR must pass bill will be a doozy.

Israel’s aggression is only in response to the Arabs’ aggression or imminent threat of it.

Trump has brought together reasonable Arab countries and Israel - which was the Abraham Accords, and set the stage for this current peace deal.

There is no comparison between HAMAS terrorists and Israel. Period.

My favorite was the little country store right up the road from here, but they didn't open until 5 AM. They made the best sausage, egg, and cheese on a biscuit I've ever had, until they changed management and started deep-frying their sausage patties. Nobody should ever deep-fry a sausage patty.

I had a charge account there and for five years during and after the pandemic, I had one of their breakfast biscuits every morning, slathered down with Tabasco and Hidden Valley ranch dressing, all washed down with a Monster energy drink.

BUt when they changed management, I no longer had credit, and they fucked up their breakfast sandwich with the deep-fried sausage patty. Besides, they only have one table and by opening time, it's covered up with the old goobers who talk about nothing but farm equipment. So I go to Kwik Trip now. It's usually pretty quiet in town at 5 AM, but I wear my concealed Glock 19 with two spare mags just in case.
I fell asleep and missed Trump's speech.... then my dog woke me up at 5 AM wanting to walk...:mad-61: so I put the leash in his mouth and sent him to wake up Nancy instead....

I used to like Denny’s.
