Somebody managed to hack into my Amazon online account and tried to purchase a few thousand dollars' worth of stuff. Thankfully they did not succeed cuz they have to provide a security code that Amazon sends to my cell phone, which they didn't have. So, I dodged a bullet there. Don't know how they did it, but I changed all my passwords just in case.

Ooops sorry, my bad.

I thought I was logged in as myself.

Very recently, like last month, WHILE DRIVING, I got notification from my CC company that I had purchased something from Lowe' via text message which I set up for it to tell me any time my card is charged, where, and how much. Knowing I had not, I tried calling the CC customer support. While she was asking me tons of verification questions, this person charged ANOTHER Lowe's order to my card. I said "Look lady, shut my ******* card down, they're charging it as we speak!!!" Turns out they didn't hack my CC, they somehow got into my Lowes account. They purchased a dishwasher and something else from Lowes in Nashville. But I was listed as the pick up person. I don't know what they thought they had accomplished.

and everyone... Make sure that if you are still on windows 10..... that you get the security updates on-line that you didn't get from microsoft... there is a site you can go to for those updates...
Also... check for malware....

/----/ A police detective was on talk radio this morning discussing the kidnapped woman, Nancy Guthrie, and all the mistakes the kidnapper made. He said crooks are the dumbest people around, and it makes his job easier.

Agreed.
But it's been, what, 3 weeks now and they still haven't found Mrs. Guthrie?
The kidnapper may be dumb but I think the local sheriff is dumber.

/----/ I agree. The detective said in his 30 years of experience he believes the woman was dead within hours of the kidnapping because it was a crime of convenience and the kidnapper didn't know what to do with her once he grabbed her.

This happened to me a few weeks ago and I posted it
somebody with an amazon account got into mine and charged 60 bucks
for a year streaming sub some family channel and that's it

Wife saw it asked me what is this as it looked legit

contacted amazon and citi and they blocked the card and I got a new one

this was an amazon breach, not on my side

60 bucks was likely the check it, nothing caught they next purchase
likely would have been much larger

seriously a sub for 5 bucks a month? if you are that good of a hacker
you would think they would aim higher and as it's a family channel
more like hallmark.......either a woman a man for his woman

I don't do online shopping. Zip zero nada
missing out, so many things online you cannot find locally no matter how hard you try

CC's you are not on the hook for any fraud, the bank eats it

I have a 2% card, it adds up to pay off the card

your own money back, what a great concept

I've had a citi CC for like 25 years, yes hacked a few times
cancel card, get new card....move on

with a 256 bit chip with tap and scan harder to hack now

the worse was the magnetic readers with skimmers

avoid those, you are good

I prefer seeing and feeling what I buy
well if you want to buy something only online you can't
see and feel it, that's removing your wider choices
at a better price

if I went to staples to buy my computer stuff for building
vs amazon, newegg I would have paid way more for
way less quality

staples does not sell high end motherboards at all.....
they don't sell enterprise drives
they don't sell gaming memory
they don't sell quality GPU's

if you have a fry's or microcenter but not everybody does, I don't

Some things, yeah. Clothing, shoes, stuff like that. But there's a lotta stuff you can get on Amazon that's cheaper and if you spend $35 you get free home delivery in about 5 days. If you check the ratings and reviews you can kinda tell if it's good or not and they have a refund/return policy so WTH. To each his own though.

Run a Malware scan... you can use Malwarebytes or a program like it... most have a free scan and temporary free PC protection...
Contact Amazon by phone to secure that account... call any credit card bank you have listed with Amazon and inform them...
And change passwords and add a two step verification...

My brother's son is a tech wizard.....if I wanted a gaming computer I could get the best for less from him

No threats found. I changed all my passwords and made sure the addresses and phone numbers were correct. My Amazon account requires a two-step verification like you said, and so the hacker didn't get anything from me. So, it worked as it should have; I thought it was a waste of time back when I set it up but now I'm glad I did it.
